A season 4 teaser trailer has emerged for HBO’s Succession. Being that it is a teaser trailer (linked down below), it does not reveal that many details.

However, it basically gives us a glimpse of the tone of the next season, which will premiere on Sunday, March 26, 2023. On that note, it might pay to catch up on some of what happened in season 3 (which we will do below).

We can also tell you what we know about season 4 so far. The general impression is that the Roy family kids are all going up against their father, Logan (Brian Cox), after he essentially pulled the rug out from everyone (more on that below).

It appears that Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) is on Logan’s good side, to the extent Logan has one of those. It also seems that Greg (Nicholas Braun) is still in proximity to Tom, though it’s not 100% clear if they are in good standing.

What is clear is that Shiv is no longer trying to appease Logan, as she had been in season 3.

What happened in season 3 of “Succession” anyway?

Season 3 of Succession had a lot of big developments, including the introduction of a new character, Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård), who runs a streaming company called GoJo. Long story short, Logan decided to sell the family business of Waystar Royco to Mr. Matsson.

In order to fully realize the deal, Logan went so far as to renegotiate the terms of his divorce settlement with ex-wife Caroline (Harriet Walter), so it no longer gives the Roy’s children a say in the family business. They weren’t too happy about that!

Another big development for Succession was Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) admitting to responsibility for the accidental death of a waiter (Tom Morley). Logan had used this as a blackmail tool against Ken.

Obviously, plenty of other things happened in season 3, but these are really some of the biggest moments. What will be obvious is that Shiv (Sarah Snook) is paying a price for her pathetic treatment of Tom.

It backfired immensely, giving Tom precious little reason to be loyal to her.

New stars in season 4 of Succession?

Unfortunately, details are still scarce about any new characters appearing for season 4. This does not mean there will be none, but that such details may be hush-hush.

Deadline has revealed the list of returning actors includes Alexander Skarsgård, Dagmara Domińczyk, Arian Moayed, Hope Davis, Juliana Canfield, Justin Kirk, and the prolific Stephen Root will return. It also appears that all of the big Roy family members will appear in season 4, which is such a relief for fans who have loved their quirky and destructive dynamics.
