Four nominations for House of the Dragon at Critics Choice Super Awards

The complete list of nominations, for the next run of the Critics Choice Super Awards has been revealed! And it looks like HBO’s House of the Dragon is running with the elite pack, leading the streaming TV contenders.

House of the Dragon is up for no less than four nominations.

  • Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Series, Limited Series or Made-For-TV Movie
  • Best Actor in a Science Fiction/Fantasy Series, Limited Series or Made-For-TV Movie – Matt Smith
  • Best Actress in a Science Fiction/Fantasy Series, Limited Series or Made-For-TV Movie – Milly Alcock
  • Best Villain in a Series, Limited Series or Made-For-TV Movie – Matt Smith

Who will be competition for House of the Dragon?

The competition is no pushover, as other shows also in contention with four categories include beautifully written and produced series like Evil, The Boys, and What We Do in the Shadows. “The Critics Choice Association is the largest critics organization in the United States and Canada, representing more than 600 media critics and entertainment journalists.”

The Critics Choice Super Awards honors “Superhero, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Horror, and Action” movies and television series.

Milly Alcock, who played the young Rhaenrya Targaryen, is up versus thespian heavy hitters in the Best Actress category, with Patricia Arquette as a betting favorite, for her stellar performance in Severance. Matt Smith meantime, who plays the brash and reckless Damon Targaryen, is going against big names in the Best Villain category, like Ethan Hawke in Moon Knight and fan favorite Antony Starr of The Boys, where he plays sociopathic superhero Homelander.

House of the Dragon has certainly been raking audience and fan good will alike since the first season ended on a high note. The series drew nearly 29 million US viewers each week across linear and digital platforms, according to HBO’s metrics.

As a prequel to Game of Thrones, the series is set 200 years before the events of the original series, telling the tumultuous story of the continent’s ruling dynasty House Targaryen.
