The third season of The Mandalorian begins with a flashback to the thriving days of Mandalore. The Armorer is crafting a Mandalorian helmet for a young boy for his initiation.

She brings out the helmet to the ceremony grounds occurring on a river and begins reciting the traditional words of Mandalore. As the ceremony goes on, The Armorer senses something is wrong and protects the boy before a monster emerges from the waters.

The on-looking Mandalorians snap into fighting mode and try and defeat the beast. This giant creature is too much, until a silver ship appears and takes out the monster before it lands, revealing to be Din Djarin and Grogu who are the ones to save the day.

Once the situation rests, the Mandalorian and the Child go speak with the Armorer, who tells the former guild bounty hunter, he is no longer a Mandalorian since he removed his own helmet of his own free will. Since their homeworld was destroyed during the infamous event they call the Purge, the Armorer believes Din will be unable to fix his transgressions.

By offering proof, via an artifact he retrieved from the Jawa’s and after telling her his plan, the Armorer agrees to let the Mandalorian try.

On his way to Mandalore, Din Djarin returns to Nevarro to see Greef Karga. Din’s old friend is now the High Magistrate of the area and is leading his bustling and thriving city.

In his office, Karga offers his old bounty hunter some land to kick back and retire. Their meeting is cut short, when they are alerted of pirates in the courtyard.

The pirates are trying to get a drink at their old saloon, but Karga informs them this building is a school now. Intensity increases as blasters are shown before a shootout ensues, leaving only the leader left standing of the pirates.

Karga lets him go so he can pass a message to his boss and all other criminals, that Nevarro is a place city now.

The Mandalorian season 3 episode 1: Bo Katan updates Mando

Walking by the statue of IG-11, the Mandalorian tells Greef Karga that he wants his old droid back to help him on his journey. They try to revive the scraps left of the droid, but its programming reverts back to bounty hunter settings and tries to kill young Grogu again.

Following some help from the Anzellans, Din Djarin leaves Nevarro to look for a replacement part for IG-11. After leaving Greef Karga’s planet, Din Djarin and Grogu are chased down by the pirates looking for revenge for their fallen brethren.

A dog fight ensues which leads to Din speaking with the High King Pirate Gorian Shard. The Mandalorian is able to escape and find a Mandalorian castle helmed by Bo Katan.

The Mandalorian discovers Katan failed to retake Mandalore due to her not having the Darksaber, in Din Djarin’s possession. She goes on to talk about how their home planet is poisoned, ravaged, and beyond salvageable.

The last leader of Mandalore tells her guest that all is hopeless, and he should just go home.
