Oddballs Season 2 Episode 5 recap – No Junk Food!

A recent decision made by the principal (a literal speaker), that students were not allowed to eat and enjoy junk food at school. This decision has caused James to seek some treats from Echo.

She provides him with snacks, in exchange for his mom’s labratory badge. He asks for the triple chocolate milk but Echo tells him he can’t handle it.

After barely getting his snacks, they are confiscated. To make matters worse, James discovers that the teachers are enjoying all the junk food in the teacher’s lounge.

Angered, James comes up with a plan to get them back without getting caught. After drinking the triple chocolate milk and nearly coughing from it, he gets caught!

However, the chocolate milk mustache and tie (from a fallen coatrack), trick the principal into thinking he’s a substitute teacher. James decides to go along with it.

Oddballs Season 2 Episode 5 recap – New Substitute Teacher

As Max poses as James, in such a terrible way that everyone buys it, while James enters a classroom of rowdy children. Mr. McFly is automatically feeling threatened by James, not wanting him to ruin his record of being a stellar teacher.

To calm the children down, James bribes them with some of the candy he managed to swipe. But when he runs out, he needs to get more.

By this point, the principal sees how well James is handling the kids and rewards hm. Angered, Mr. McFly sends Stuart his way to try and ruin everything.

Stuart knows it’s James but wants everyone else to figure it out. James is able to get Stuart on his side, when he reveals what the teachers have been doing with the junk food.

James tries once again to get the box of confiscated junk food but at the same time, Max fails to cover for him, and Mr. McFly catches him!

Oddballs Season 2 Episode 5 recap – Best Teacher Ever

Still oblivious to the fact that the substitute teacher is James, Mr. McFly hopes this act of taking the junk food will finally make him lose favor with the principal. James gives a rallying speech about how taking the junk food away is wrong, just for the teachers to then enjoy.

It is truly hypocritical. The principal hears the speech and becomes so moved he decides to allow the students to enjoy junk food again.

James is offered a full time position with a pay raise, but he politely declines. It ends with him floating into the sky with Echo, as she reminds him that he wouldn’t be able to handle the triple chocolate milk.

Oddballs Season 2 Episode 5 review

Thankfully season 1 episode 5 was far better than episode 4. From the jokes to the story itself, to the ending, it was an all-around entertaining episode.

I think what I enjoyed the most about it was that James finally catches a break and gets away with the whole thing without getting caught. This is often unheard of on Oddballs with James often learning his lesson the hard way.

But let’s face it, he was right to try to give all the junk food back to the students. He was right for calling out the school for the audacity to confiscate the junk food in the first place.

I have to admit Dirt School is a wild and creative one. It makes you wonder what the kids are actually learning and what chaos will ensue next time.
