Last week on Fear the Walking Dead we left off with the horrific death of Grace. Mo tried her best, but she could not save her with radiotherapy and Morgan had to put her down in another devastating parallel.

The first thing we see from Morgan in “All I See is Red”, is another lost Morgan who is trying to clear everything in his path. Once again, he has lost himself in a dangerous world after not being able to protect Mo or Grace, in the same way he wasn’t able to protect Jenny and Duane.

He reverts back to his days of “Clear” and though it is not unexpected, it comes off as very predictable. Madison has been a great ally for Morgan and this episode was no different.

Episodes back, Madison helped Morgan break free of PADRE and to take care of what he needed to. He needed to bury his demons of the past.

And though he did so, the development he got from that just went around a big circle as he became that man again in a short time. His mind should have been focused on Mo and getting her away from PADRE.

Grace would have wanted them to move on and find happiness, even if she couldn’t be a part of it. Nevertheless, Madison helps Morgan through this episode, at times having to hide his own weapon from him for her own safety.

Even Mo herself had to shield herself from what was happening to Morgan. At a certain point Morgan was ready to let the walkers take him to allow Mo to escape.

Throughout the episode there is a lot of back and forth between Mo and Morgan. On one hand Morgan wanted Mo to stay away from him so he wouldn’t hurt her, while on another, wanting her with him.

They packed a lot into one episode that should have been extended out for a few. One of the craziest scenes of the show were Daniel in his army being outmaneuvered by children, leading them to be unable to backup Morgan.

These kids are definitely not superior warriors and it seems far fetched Daniel would let a group of inexperienced children stop him.

Fear the Walking Dead season 8, episode 6 recap: The End is near

We have finally reached the end of PADRE’s rule. Shrike was taken down by her own father whom she let bite her.

Madison put her life in June’s hand, who then asked Dwight what he wanted done. Finch laid there dying and showed mercy to the woman who showed no mercy on him.

Ultimately it was her own brother who June let put her down. June shows more kindness to ruthless people than I would have.

Madison on the other hand has a new path; finding the parents of the all the children she has taken and other’s she didn’t. Though the reign of Shrike is over, she plans to move forward with PADRE’s plan by creating something even bigger.

No more separation between children and parents. She has taken everything Mo told her to heart.

Though her children are dead, as far as she knows, she is doing what she can to make them proud.

It was heartwarming to see Morgan bury Grace next to Eastman, two of the most influential people of his life. Then it was time for Morgan and Mo to carry on and we received a blast from the past.

"“This message is for Rick Grimes. It’s Morgan Jones. Man, I’m gonna come and look for you, whether you’re at Alexandria or not. I will leave this message every morning at dawn, and I’ll leave the walkie on for a few minutes after. Who knows? Maybe you might even be listening.”"

It’s not the first Rick Grimes mention we have gotten on Fear the Walking Dead this season, but it leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Why now after all this time?

At this point since the days of Texas, he has spent more years with his new friends and family. Lennie James is a phenomenal actor but everything they do with Morgan Jones comes off as a repeated cycle.

He doesn’t know Rick Grimes has disappeared and I feel like he left Alexandria and the others for a reason. It’s nice he wants to go back and see if the family is okay, but I hope this leads to an actual appearance down the line.

A Rick and Morgan reunion would be amazing and I think Mo and Judith would hit it off spectacularly. Witnessing Dwight and Sherry breakup was heartbreaking after the death of Finch.

But it was not tremendously surprising. A lot of breakups happen after the death of a child and there have been underlying relationship issues with Dwight and Sherry since The Sanctuary days, when Sherry had become Negan’s wife.

Dwight plans to go back home and start over because it seems no matter how hard they try to be happy; things always get worse in the end.

Fear the Walking Dead season 8, episode 6 recap: Will Alicia be returning to the back half of season 8?

The end credits after episode 6 showed Alicia’s arm along with Madison’s old hammer and Strand’s sunglasses, as somebody is listening in on Madison’s radio call. Could this be Troy?

Rating: 8/10

From the small glimpses, the remaining episodes look hopeful to show much more excitement than the first half of Fear the Walking Dead. After Morgan’s final goodbye it seems he has passed the baton back to Madison to finish out the series.

And I feel that’s the way it should be. She started this thing and it’s only fair that she finishes it. Morgan was a great edition, but it left a lot of controversy between fans.

Getting to see Madison and Strand together is what all the fans have been waiting for. Madison returning all these parents to their children could be the karma that allows her to see Alicia again.

Part 2 of Fear the Walking Dead will air later this year.
