Daryl Dixon has finally made his way to France after what we can only imagine is a perilous journey through the Atlantic waters. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon teaser was released during season 1 episode 2 of Dead City last night and we get to see the famous archer stepping foot in the City of Love.
We previously saw Daryl Dixon atop a capsized boat looking out of sorts, as it traveled across the deep blue sea. This past Sunday, AMC shared two new clips of the upcoming Daryl Dixon series.
After getting out of the water, we finally see Daryl walking across some French terrain past some cars and bikes and eventually coming up to some sort of city. The population seems scarce so far.
We can see the lone wolf we have all grown to love, talking to either a recorder or radio. It’s not clear which.
He speaks some words we’ve all been waiting to hear since the heartbreaking ending of season 11 of The Walking Dead:
"“My name is Daryl Dixon. I come from a place called The Commonwealth. It’s in America. I went out looking for something, and all I found was trouble. If I don’t make it back, I want ‘em to know I tried. Hell, I’m still trying.” -Norman Reedus"
Those words hit deep to a fandom who has not seen the hero in so long. But the words he said next hit even harder.
"“His journey is a hard one. Longer and even harder and weirder than you would think. He was so close to getting what he wanted and to where he wanted to be.” -Norman Reedus"
We left off in season 11 where he told Carol he loved her and wanted her to come on his journey with him. Could this be what Dixon was referring to?
Daryl had mentioned New Mexico and running away with Carol several times. He was close to it, but it didn’t seem that Carol was ready at the time, so he went on a mission alone.
Though all he wanted was to be on the road with his soulmate it, unfortunately, never panned out for him the way he wanted it to. Before he left, Carol had told him this will be good for us, and we have yet to see why.
Carol and Daryl are known in history to never do well without each other and now we are going to see Daryl on his own struggling in a new world with new circumstances. In a foreign land where Daryl is literally a fish out of water.
Fret not yet because Daryl won’t be alone for much longer. Melissa McBride has been spotted on set to join her beloved partner in crime.
Nothing has been verified by AMC yet or how she will return to TWDU, but for all intents and purposes we know she is returning. The formidable duo will soon be taking France by storm.
We will always keep you updated on all the news of Daryl Dixon that comes in.
