AMC+ changes early access schedule for Fear and TWD: Daryl Dixon

The era is over for watching AMC+ three days early to get a jump on The Walking Dead universe. New episodes of Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will now be premiering on Sundays at 3AM EST/12AM PT.

Though AMC had previously stated that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon would be available three days prior, that has since been changed. Some fans were not all too happy about the shift, but many were satisfied that The Walking Dead family can now watch as a community on Sundays again.

During the final season of The Walking Dead, AMC+ subscribers were gifted with the opportunity to watch episodes a week in advance. Unfortunately, that brought more of an opportunity to spoil the show before many got the chance to watch it.

Even The Walking Dead: Dead City, which was released three days in advance, brought the capability to spoil pretty easily. You can always hashtag #twdspoilers, but unless you mark content as sensitive, it may still be seen.

AMC+: Are the changes good or bad?

Even if you do mark it, it tests the willpower of fans not to click it. While there have been some complaints from fans that early access is the reason they subscribe to AMC+, I feel like this was a smart move that should have been made a long time ago.

Episodes premiering a week in advance were way too early and created nothing but boredom for a week until you saw the next episode. Three days in advance was better but still had such a separation for fans who aren’t able to get access to AMC+.

This decision brings out the vibe of the golden days of The Walking Dead.

In addition for AMC+ subscribers, there will be The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon cast diaries just like there was for The Walking Dead: Dead City, directly following the premiering episode. The first TWD Daryl Dixon cast diaries or bonus episodes will be available to stream this Thursday, September 14.

It’s not the schedule that fans were expecting, but it does allow The Walking Dead fanbase to come together and enjoy a night of The Walking Dead the way they used to. It brings back the excitement of the early days of TWD by allowing us to enjoy this new world of TWDU simultaneously.

Season 1 episode 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon “Alouette“, premieres Sunday, September 17 on AMC and AMC+. Fear the Walking Dead season 8B episode 7 “Anton”, premieres on Sunday, October 22 on AMC and AMC+.
