Norman Reedus shares kind words about his co-stars and reveals why he loves filming in France
By Shay McBryde
The humid nights of Georgia are long gone, and Norman Reedus has found a new home in France with an all-new cast. Minus one friendly face we all know and love.
This has been a whirlwind of a journey for Norman Reedus and his character Daryl Dixon and fans around the world have been loving it. Now it’s finally France’s turn to jump on board and enjoy the spinoff that was filmed on their turf.
Days ago, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premiered on Paramount Plus France. Paramount will be airing brand-new episodes weekly for old and new fans of The Walking Dead.
Norman Reedus shares high praises of his castmates in an interview with Serieously. Here is what the lead of the show had to say about his co-stars:
"“Eric is a very interesting guy. He’s super classy and he’s fun. Eriq brings this light to serious words. He’s very animated. You watch him and you’re like, wow. And then you see it on camera and he just lights up the camera.” – Norman Reedus on Eriq Ebouaney"
Eriq plays the ever so eccentric character Fallou, who becomes a friend to Daryl Dixon along the journey. A hero in his own right that is a blast to watch.
"“When a child actor comes for an audition and their parents are there, they really put it on. I’m an actor…I’m a thespian…Louis he wasn’t like that at all. He listened. I immediately wanted Louis. I’m like that’s the kid.” – Norman Reedus on Louis Puech Scigliuzzi"
Norman spoke about gifting Louis with a PlayStation so they could play together. The two of them have become the best of pals and that has really carried over on the screen.
I expect their bond to continue to grow come season 2 in The Book of Carol.
"“You know Melissa and I we’ve been friends since day one. Years ago we met. But our very first scene together I liked her right off the bat. And if I like you I kind of poke you a little bit. I hand her a pickaxe that she’s got to put down her husband. And every time we did it I kept taking the pickaxe and dipping it in more blood and guts like making it more and more disgusting. Every take I’d hand it to her and she’s like uhhh..the last take it was just covered in blood…I can’t say enough about Melissa I love Melissa.” – Norman Reedus on Melissa McBride"
The chemistry these two have shared for over a decade is really going to transcend in season 2. It’s been a while since we’ve seen this duo in action, but if one thing is for certain it’s that their reunion can’t miss.
Having them back on the same screen will feel like home to all of us too.
"“This one I love. She’s fantastic.”- Norman Reedus on Laika Blanc-Francard"
Laika’s character Sylvie has been a welcomed addition. Don’t let her age or the cloth she wears fool you, she is one bad@$$.
"“Clemence she was my first friend really on set. In a scene where I’m taking a bath and she’s talking to me and she’s scrubbing me down and they kept pouring hot water in the bathtub and it was freezing cold. So I’m like in a bathtub with her and we had this serious dialogue which is supposed to mean stuff and have subtext. And the whole time I’m in this dirty bath water. But she was very kind to me.” – Norman Reedus on Clémence Poésy."
Clémence has been the stand-out star of The Walking Dead: Dary Dixon. Her resilient character quickly shined bright, and fans took notice right away.
Norman Reedus also spoke about what the experience filming in France has been like to DivertoTV:
"“Melissa was always part of the show. Always. Since day one. Before the first script she was part of the show. She’s an executive producer. Before she came here I said you don’t understand it’s so good filming here. And she’s like why? It’s free. Everybody is artists. They all have an artistic eye and appreciation for art and sound and filming and lighting and costume. You can do what you want.”"
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has taken the zombie apocalypse to a heightened level of emotion and artistry, that has helped set this The Walking Dead spinoff to an unmatched level of success.
"“We are getting to tell our characters stories in ways that we’ve always wanted to do on The Walking Dead. It’s very freeing and open. It’s a real joy to be here.” Norman Reedus on the return of Melissa McBride and what it has been like filming in France."
Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride are the happiest I have seen them in any season of The Walking Dead. I can’t begin to imagine the magic they will create for season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon: The Book of Carol.
We have now seen Daryl create this new world in France and Carol will be coming to combine the old world, signifying his home. Old world and new world will come together, and we will see what the future holds for the longest-running characters in the history of The Walking Dead.
