Is another reboot of NBC’s The Office happening or not?
You may have heard the rumor swirling the internet about a potential reboot of NBC’s The Office. Although the NBC sitcom is based upon the original British series of the same name, most think of Steve Carell’s portrayal of the unpredictable and humorous Dunder Mifflin boss Michael Scott.
Considering The Office ran for 9 seasons, you can imagine the multitude of devoted and passionate fans the show accumulated. You can also imagine the immediate response to the reboot rumor.
But rest assured, the series co-creator Greg Daniels has clarified some key information. Upon speaking to TheWrap, Daniels explained, “I don’t like to think of anything as a reboot, you know what I mean? Because I feel like we ended that story beautifully. The characters had closure. I would never want to redo that same show with a different cast, because I think we got the luckiest cast, the best cast ever, in TV, to do that show. So, the notion of a reboot is not of interest.”
The future of The Office reboot
So, if a reboot is out of the question, what could audiences possibly see? Daniels references Star Wars and how there are stories that follow the main story, such as for example, the smash hit Disney Plus series The Mandalorian.
Although Daniels doesn’t use the term “spinoff”, that might be what fans could be seeing in the future. If that’s the case, we are still keeping our fingers crossed for a Dwight Schrute show that focuses on the day-to-day life on his family farm.
It’s not too late, we can still make it happen. No further confirmation of whether a show related to The Office will or will not be happening.
You can stream The Office on Peacock TV.
