Carrie season 1 is now streaming in full on Prime Video. That’s right, season 1. You read that correctly. Creator Mike Flanagan said his “dream scenario” would be to go for three seasons with his latest horror show. With that season finale, it’s not surprising fans have plenty of questions.
With a potential season 2 on the horizon, here are the things we’re asking about the Carrie season 1 finale after that intense twist towards the end.
- Who are these women, and what will they do to Carrie?
- So…is Amanda alive? Will we see her again?
- How does Emaline take control of Carrie?
- Will Carrie find out about Margaret’s death?
- Will the teens of Chamberlain appear again?

Who are these women, and what will they do to Carrie?
The biggest surprise about the ending of Carrie is that Carrie (Summer H. Howell) does not die, a big change from the book. In the show, Carrie crawls out of the rubble, and Margaret (Samantha Sloyan) seemingly dies after rubble supposedly levitates on top of her. However, she’s actually dragged out of the rubble and then later interviewed by the documentary host Adelaide (Kate Siegel).
During this questioning, we see that Adelaide also has powers and slowly causes Margaret’s heart to stop as she tells her who Carrie is and what she needs. When Margaret dies, the girls who also have powers come into the room, where Adelaide tells them to bring her back to the hotel to stage it as if Margaret died in her hotel room.
At the same time, we see Emaline (Thalia Dudek) driving away from Chamberlain with Carrie. And the biggest question really is: who the heck are these people? They want Carrie’s power, but why? What is the bigger plan behind them keeping tabs on her across the country?

So…is Amanda alive? Will we see her again?
A character with a minor but impactful role is Amanda (Katee Sackhoff), who meets with Margaret in episode 7 and suggests they kill Carrie to stop her before she uses her powers to hurt someone else. Margaret leaves before she can agree to anything, but at the prom, Amanda still shows up and tries to kill Carrie, even in the chaos.
Rita (Amber Midthunder) tries to stop her, but Carrie uses her powers on both of them, sending Amanda flying off and Rita into the fire. Rita is dead, but we don’t see Amanda again. Granted, we do see that Carrie electrocutes the entire gym, so Amanda could be among the dead. Still, we never see her body. And since she straight-up tries to shoot Carrie, we can presume she might play a bigger role later on.
We also know that Emaline is shot at some point during the chaos, as she tells Carrie later on. Does Amanda do it?

How does Emaline take control of Carrie?
Another big question I have is what around really happens with Carrie and Emaline in that gym. When Carrie sees Tommy (Joel Oulette) die, Emaline seems to appear in her mind and tells her to let her take the reins. After that, Sue (Siena Agudong) mentions she saw a dark shadow that caused the fire to spread and everyone to panic.
But we also find out that Emaline is an A.P. — an astral projector — which explains why she can talk to Carrie from wherever she’s traveling from. But… astral projectors can’t really take control of people, which is what I’m confused about. Either there’s something else to this power that we don’t know, or Flanagan is going to do some wacky stuff.

Will Carrie find out about Margaret’s death?
While Margaret and Carrie certainly have their moments of hatred against each other this season, mainly with the ending where Margaret literally tries to kill Carrie, there’s no denying that this is a very complicated relationship and that Carrie, deep down, does still love her mother.
Margaret, however, is now dead thanks to Adelaide, and judging by how the girls follow her orders, Adelaide’s the older woman Carrie would interact with in a future season. So… will Carrie find out that Adelaide killed Margaret? Will that actually unleash Carrie’s vengeful side? Or will she be strangely okay with it?

Will the teens of Chamberlain appear again?
Normally, I’d never want to see those teenagers again after everything that happened to Carrie on social media, but the season shifted my perspective a bit. Most of the older ones are either dead or traumatized, but there are two I’d love to see if season 2 happens — Sue and Tina (Josie Totah).
I think keeping both of them alive opens up a lane for a particular story. Tina could be in the background, but I could easily see Sue trying to figure out what happened to Carrie and hunting them down somehow after Tommy’s death, even if she and Tommy weren’t together anymore. It could make her a much more complex character, which I am always down for.
But Carrie is driving off into the sunset now, so who knows if we’ll ever see them again?
All eight episodes of Carrie are streaming on Prime Video right now.
