In Crystal Lake season 1 episode 5, Claudette and Barry met their bittersweet end at the hands of Grace, Pam, and the ghost of Jason. No matter who twisted the knife last, the first two of many camp counselors are gone in Friday the 13th history.

Their murders lived up to the buildup of Pam’s anger towards Claudette’s confession and Barry failing to stay with the campers. Grace’s drug-tripped mind was the perfect entrance for Pam to gain her revenge and protect Grace at all costs.

Now, in episode 6, Pam has to find a way to pin the murders on someone else and save Grace and herself from taking the fall.

Pam creates a new narrative

Camp Crystal Lake wakes up in the middle of the night to screams of horror as Pam panics about what to do with the bodies. Pam convinces Grace that the drugs created this scene and that the counselors were already dead when she found them. She promises she’ll fix this, get rid of the bodies, and put them in a boat. Ghost Jason whispers to Pam that it won’t work because of all the blood and that they'll find them. Yet, they didn’t find Jason. They didn’t find him because he wasn’t cared about like Claudette and Barry are. He convinces her to pin it on the ones who really did it, the people who gave Grace access to the drugs.

She wonders how the hippies would take the blame, considering the bodies are in the boathouse and not the woods. Ghost Jason says his famous line, “Kill them, mommy,” and springs his mom into action. With the bodies and Grace in tow, Pam rows the boat to the woods where the hippies' campsite is nearby. After Pam docks the boat and tells Grace to stay put, she dumps the bodies in different parts of the woods for the hippies to stumble upon. Since they are still on their drug trip, Pam has an easy time hunting them down and killing them one by one, except for one.

After they discover Barry’s body, Pam sends a knife through Shutterbug’s (Drew Scheid) camera lens and straight into his head. His body falls, and Space Ghost (Albert DiCesare) is killed off-screen. She goes deeper into the woods. She finds Rhiannon (April Consalo) and Gabe (Philip Themio Stoddard) having sex. Coming up behind them, Pam slices Rhiannon’s throat, while Gabe doesn’t realize she’s dead until he sees the blood and Pam towering over him. He tries to crawl away, but she stabs him in the neck without a struggle.

Covered in blood, Pam walks up to the campsite where Harmony (Manon Gage), Stella Blue (Lark White), and Plato (Nate Kelderman) think she is hurt. She rambles about how she can’t let them take Grace from her and some other things that the hippies don’t understand. As Stella Blue tries to help her, she surprises everyone by stabbing her multiple times while Plato and Harmony run away.

Harmony slams the van door behind her, but Pam doesn’t stop until she’s driving away. Plato runs through the woods and trips over Claudette’s body before reaching the lake, where he finds Grace. He tries to get her to leave, but someone gets to him first. Pam returns to the boat to find Plato dead, but not by Pam or Grace, so it has to be Jason (Pam can’t know that for sure). Jason’s choice of weapon is stuck in Plato’s head, and distant sounds nearby alert Pam that someone else is in the woods. She never sees the person but assumes it is her son.

The aftermath from the camp murders

The next morning, the police and EMTs arrive on scene to load up the bodies. Levon is joined by the state police, who have theories of their own about what happened to the victims. There were definitely drugs involved. The final count is eight bodies, with one in the wind, and Levon has the make and model of the van. Grace is the only witness who Levon says the camp cook found in the pantry this morning, and she is now at the hospital.

Again, Pam created an alibi not only for herself but for Grace, too. Levon warns the head of the state police that they need to be gentle when getting her statement, but the state police are set on being the ones to take it. Due to it being a mass murder case, the state police are going to take it from here.

Pam watches over Grace from outside her room when Levon comes to check on her. Although Grace isn’t awake yet, the doctors expect a full recovery. Levon takes full blame for not realizing the hippies were bad news, but Pam reminds him no one saw murder coming. He feels blindsided by the things he hasn’t noticed until there’s a murder. He reveals he doesn’t have the case anymore, so he doesn’t have leads to give her. She at least finds out that Harmony is the main suspect, and the state police want to question her most likely tomorrow at the earliest. He tells her to go home and that a nurse will call her when Grace wakes up.

When Levon arrives at the police station, Dorf jumps down his throat for not being available. Ralph lawyered up and posted bail an hour ago. Levon tells Dorf to let it go because Ralph isn’t their man; someone else is killing people. On top of him being locked up when the hippies and counselors were killed last night, they never had a strong enough case against Ralph. He blames Dorf for the real killer going free while he went rogue, but Dorf doubles down on what happened to Levon before he moved to Crystal Lake.

Meanwhile, Pam gets Grace some magazines while she’s at Trudy’s diner. As she is waiting at the bar, the guys talk about the evil in the town and Ralph being off the hook. Ralph is over the locals casting stones and not understanding what they speak about and leaves the diner. Pam chases him out, and she agrees that there is something in the woods. That something is learning and watching to kill better. Ralph has only gotten glimpses and wants to kill whatever it is. She believes it is Jason and wants to find him. He doesn’t believe it is still her boy.

At Grace’s bedside, Pam coaches her on what to say and what not to say to the police about what happened at the hippies’ campsite and Camp Crystal Lake. Instead of the truth, she is supposed to tell the police that she doesn’t remember what happened after she took the drugs. Then, she found Claudette and Barry’s bodies, and there was so much blood. She was scared and hid. If anything else comes up, she tells them she doesn’t remember and maybe cries to make it believable. If she tells them what really happened or the illusions, the police may get the wrong idea. Pam gets really up in arms when Grace says she might have seen Jason and has to apologize for scaring her.

After speaking with Grace, Pam brings some of Jason’s favorite things to the cabin where he spent most of his time. She sets out all of his survival gear and treats to wait for him. When she chases a distant noise, she returns to the cabin, and it has been destroyed. Everything is scattered, and the treats are gone. This leads her to believe he is indeed nearby.

Bellflower doubles down

The mail guy drops something onto Brianna’s desk from an unknown location. It’s a zipped pouch with Bellflower files, with the label: For Review, approved by K. Durrett, L. Meyer on 4/19/62. She immediately discovers they are all of women patients, except one sticks out: Pamela Wittering.

The photo is clearly a different version of the Pam living in Crystal Lake, which raises Brianna’s suspicions. The guy who sent her the package calls her to tell her that everything he knows is in those files, and it is her problem now. He confirms all the women are dead but is shocked to find out one of them is alive. They decide to meet at the pier at 5 PM to discuss the issue more, as he abruptly hangs up the phone. Levon arrives back at the station to an urgent message from his sister.

With no one knowing where she’s meeting the doctor, Brianna arrives at the pier. The doctor is killed on the spot before he can reach her, and a different guy sits down beside her. Instead of ending her at the beginning, he tells her what he knows. The company rarely goes on the record, but he shares that the project was a clinical trial with vetted patients and sound science. They hid it because the public wouldn’t like the truth, which is why anyone attached to it is under an NDA.

He is alarmed that Ed and Benny’s bodies were discovered in a small town in New Jersey. He doesn’t have a clue why they would be there, but he can tell she has her theories. She gets suspicious, and finally he reveals the project was his failure. When he heard one of the patients might be alive, he saw a chance to make amends, but it doesn’t explain the murders. He thinks the reason for Ed and Benny being in Crystal Lake should be answered by Pamela, not him. Then, he calls himself out by knowing Pamela’s name when she didn’t say it. He decides the easy way isn’t working, so he tells her not to make a scene. She stabs the guy and runs to the exit, jumping into the back of a moving truck to get away from them.

Brianna calls her newspaper reporter coworker, Nathan, who is instantly alarmed about her whereabouts. She calls from a bar phone and tells him she’s in trouble. He’s not surprised, considering there are guys from Bellflower at the office looking for her. She tells them to get the file out of her desk drawer, leave without the guys seeing him, and drop it behind the counter at the diner on Market St. She confirms she will keep her movements from him and contact him when she can.

Brianna shows Levon the file of who needs answers from Pam to believe it. When Pam arrives home from seeking out Jason, Brianna and Levon are sitting in her kitchen. He reveals he found her scissors in her bathroom that match the ones he pulled out of the hip from the bear cave. He needs her to make sense of why she’s connected to the Bellflower murders. She gives in and tells them she’s never told anyone this story before. In episode 7, we go back in time to what happened to Pam and Jason before they came to Crystal Lake.
