Peacock’s Crystal Lake season 1 packed Pam’s grief, slasher horror, emotional trauma, and Jason’s origin story into eight incredible episodes.

Brad Caleb Kane, Crystal Lake series showrunner, revealed to The Wrap that since they were doing a TV show, they wanted twists and turns to recontextualize the things fans think they know from the Friday the 13th movies. Kane surprised horror fans by not only adding to who slashed the camp counselors but also adding an expanded scene. Honestly, it makes sense that Grace’s drug-tripped mind would want vengeance for Jason’s accident, and Pam would help her finish the job.

Little did they know Jason’s DNA was mixed with “cockroach and human DNA to create a new species that could withstand nuclear devastation.” Although Jason disappeared in the lake in 1971, he didn’t drown. The creature demon in the woods Enos, Ralph, Grace, and Pam were seeing was indeed a rapidly growing Jason. Kane shared that when Jason is revealed in episode 8, he’s “about the size he is in Friday the 13th: Part 2.” Through all of this, Kane, the cast, and crew made me fall in love with the human side of Pam and Jason instead of only seeing them as killers.

Elias hunts down Pam

After finishing her story, she’s surprised Levon and Brianna believe her. Considering Levon had to hear it from her even though he read the file on what happened to her at Bellflower. Pam finds out the doctor sent Brianna the file, and then her barely getting away herself sends Pam running around the house. They all have to leave because Bellflower is coming. Levon needs everyone to know, so he takes her to the station to protect her. He isn’t asking her to go back in a cage, as we see her sitting in his office with him.

While Pam and Brianna are safe at the station with Levon, Elias rolls into town and walks into the diner. Although he seems friendly at first, when he doesn’t know simple things about Pam, Jason, and the accident, Rita and Trudy get suspicious. Then his stack of cash adds to their suspicion as he pays for his coffee, and Trudy tells him as little as possible. Enos, clueless to the creepiness, gives out Pam’s address while hardly looking up from his newspaper. Elias gets the information he wants and heads to Pam’s house. He and his guys find it empty except for pictures of Jason and Pam that make Elias even angrier for missing eight years with his son.

Bennett, one of Elias’ guys, finds out that the reporter (Brianna) has a brother that’s a Crystal Lake cop. With that new information, they head to the police station. While they are finding that out, Rita wakes up Dorf and lets him know someone is looking for Pam. She figured someone should know. After she leaves, he pulls on his clothes and runs out the door.

Levon sees Elias and his guys walking towards the station as Pam tries to bolt. He tells her she can’t go out the back because they’ll see her. Instead, he orders Pam and Brianna downstairs and goes and sits in his office as if he didn’t know Elias was about to walk in. Elias tries to sell his sob story to Levon, but he isn’t buying it, considering he never put a missing persons report out for his wife and son. Levon tells Elias that he does know Pam but that she’s away on vacation. He keeps adding to his sob story that Pam kidnapped his son, and he never involved the law because his wife was violent and sick before the medication.

Elias confirms no one else is here and looks out the window at his guys. Levon tries to tell him he’ll get his contact information and call him when Pam returns, but Elias doesn’t back down. His guys join him inside the station and block every exit. Levon stands his ground and pulls his gun out. He tries to get everyone to show them their hands and cuff each other. Instead, all five guns are pointed at him when Pam says enough is enough and reveals herself. She’s not going to let Elias hurt Levon and wants to stop running as she stands in front of Elias.

As he lets his guard down, Pam stabs Elias, and all five guns turn on her. One of the guys grabs her at gunpoint while Elias pulls the knife out and yells for them to get the car. Dorf slips in the door right after Levon threatens to shoot the guys if they move a muscle. One of the guys asks Dorf to show his hands, and Dorf has a weapon. The Japanese throwing star lands in the guy's eye as Levon takes some of the guys out. They wound Levon as a few of them, including Elias, drag Pam to the car.

Dorf yells for Levon while trying to turn the gun away from him. At the last second, Levon shoots the guy in the head before he can get a shot off. Dorf tells Brianna to grab the first aid from downstairs while Levon tells Dorf he needs to call it in. Someone needs to go after Elias and Pam. Dorf calls it in, reciting the license plate after only seeing it as he slipped in earlier. In that moment, Levon realizes Dorf is someone he can trust to get the job done.

Crystal Lake stages a family reunion

Pam tells Elias she has kept his secrets for eight years and will continue to. With Jason gone, it’s over. Neither of them believes their son is gone since a body was never found. A hooded figure stands in the middle of the road and causes Elias’ driver to spin out of control. The figure runs into the woods with Pam hot on his trail.

Then, Elias and his men follow her as they split to cover more ground. We see the guys through Jason’s one eye hole as he hunts and kills them. Elias hears the commotion but continues looking for Pam. He finds her in the cabin, where she has nowhere left to run. She doesn’t want to run because Jason is standing behind his father.

Jason has grown rapidly since he was that 11-year-old boy who went missing in 1971. He has a jumpsuit on with a bag over his head and one eye hole cut out. After letting his dad see his face, he reaches out and squeezes until Elias’ head pops in his head. He turns to his mother, and she backs away, scared at first. As soon as she sees the ghost of little Jason, she tells him to come to Mommy. He pushes her into a tree by her throat. She sings to him and brings back all the memories they shared. He lets her go, but their reunion is cut short when Ralph shoots at him and misses. Pam stops Ralph as Jason gets away, stronger than ever and unstoppable. She warns them to stay away from the lake and the camp because these woods are theirs now.

We end back at the deserted Camp Crystal Lake, where someone finishes telling the Jason Voorhees story. The campfire burns as the woods send out sounds all their own. Do they believe the story or not?
