Karen and Matt interrogate the AVTF agent

After the fight at Josie's bar, where Matt and Karen had been hiding out in, it's revealed that Karen knocked out an agent and brought him back to Frank's hideout. She believes they can gain intel from the agent about the AVTF and Fisk's plans for the free port. The agent, a young officer named Alan Saunders, claims he wants to work with the vigilantes. He doesn't agree with the measures taken by Powell and the task force and wants to switch sides. Daredevil listens to the cadence of his heart and confirms that the agent's telling the truth. Saunders gives Karen and Matt his security card for the port's base, truly wanting to stop the task force from further harming the city.

Karen and Matt were able to leak a copy of a charter about the port to the governor, Marge McCaffrey. As governor, Marge can revoke Fisk's access to the port if she believes he's acting nefarious with what he's bringing in from the sunken ship.

In Frank's hideout, Karen and Matt discuss the whereabouts of Frank Castle. He's seemingly missing from this season and the events happening in New York, leading the two to wonder where he is. Karen and Matt debate what measures to take against Fisk, with Karen siding with Frank's ideology of violence and Matt believing in the system's power. Matt wants to expose Fisk to the city so that they turn against him, planning to infiltrate his Red Hook base on the port. Karen is worried about this plan, unsure if Matt would survive such an encounter.

The Swordsman's Trial

Kirsten is set to represent Jacques Duquesne, A.K.A., The Swordsman, as her client in court. Blindfolded and escorted by an AVTF agent, Kirsten is brought to the Red Hook base where she can meet with Duquesne. They discuss how impossible winning the trial will be under Fisk's regime, as the trial will be anything but fair.

New York is tuned in for the trial of the century. Fisk is determined to set a precedent that vigilantes are no longer allowed to operate as they once did. The courtroom is packed with media personnel, spectators, and task force agents. The judge is feeling the pressure of this trial and the expectations set upon her that go against the true purpose of the law.

Kirsten tries her hardest to defend Duquesne and appeal to the judge's humanity, but the trial was set from the beginning. The jury finds Duquesne guilty on the charge of vigilantism. Fisk and his team celebrate this victory, marking another win for Kingpin.

Buck seeks a culprit

With Marge unhappy with Fisk's leadership in New York, Buck seeks to gain information on the governor as leverage. He asks Daniel to find anything first on the governor, but unfortunately for them, Marge's record is clean. Daniel is good at getting information about people, so Buck tasks him with finding out the identity of Mayor Kingpin, the Anti-Fisk journalist dressing as Fisk and revealing the truth about New York's current climate.

At a dinner hosted by the mayor, Vanessa sits Heather Glenn beside Buck. The two chat over Vanessa's intentions by seating them together and go around the room assigning court roles to the people around them. Buck claims that Fisk is king, Vanessa is queen, and Daniel is the surprising heir apparent. Heather asks who Buck thinks he is, and he replies that he's a knight, here to fight for his king.

Daredevil breaks into the Red Hook base

The weapons on the half-sunk ship are still being recovered under Fisk's orders. Powell orders the working crewmen to stay late to finish packing up the smuggled supplies.

Kirsten is drinking her sorrows at a bar after her loss in court. Someone hurriedly bumps into her, leaving a note for her to come to her office. Karen in her wig disappears around the corner. When Kirsten arrives at her office, she finds Daredevil waiting for her. He wants information on how to enter Red Hook, and she guides him as best she can remember.

Daredevil breaks into the base based off Kirsten's directions and Saunder's security card. Karen waits outside in a getaway van, nervously awaiting Matt's return. Inside, Daredevil takes out two guards and listens to what's around him. On one side, he hears the watch he threw into a case of weapons to track. On the other, he hears the cries of prisoners.

In the next room, Matt finds the rows of prisoners kidnapped by the task force. As he frees them, including Dusquesne, he hears more AVTF agents approaching to stop them. Arming themselves, Daredevil and the Swordsman take down the stream of task force agents, allowing the prisoners to escape.

Karen hears a strange noise outside her car and goes to investigate, gun drawn. She finds Angela, wearing the Amulet of Power. The young girl says she's here to help, dropping a bag of AVTF guns and comms to help Daredevil fight against the task force.

As Daredevil leads the civilians outside, more task force agents arrive on orders to shoot the escaping prisoners. Karen and Angela commandeer an AVTF truck to carry the prisoners to safety as the taskforce opens fire on them. Angela reunites with her aunt, and Duquesne drives the truck off the base.

Powell and his task force try to follow, but their tires were slashed by Angela using her uncle's knife. He calls Fisk to report what happened, and Fisk tells him that he knows what to do. As Matt and Karen are driving away from the port, a bomb goes off inside the ship, sinking it under the harbor and killing the crewmen still on board.

What might happen next

The explosion on the ship will further conflict the public about vigilantes if all goes according to Fisk's plan. While the streets are chaotic and New Yorkers seem to be revolting against the mayor, Fisk still has a lot of influence in the city.

It's likely that Bullseye will make an appearance in the next few episodes, as Matt is yet to answer his invitation after Bullseye saved him at the end of episode 1. Whether or not their meeting goes smoothly, fans will see shortly.
