As fans continue to wait patiently for the Arconia trio's latest mystery to begin rolling out on our screens, there's a mystery we're all currently trying to solve. And that happens to be when Only Murders in the Building season 6 will premiere on Hulu. Unfortunately, it seems as though the wait will continue for the new season, which is coming later than usual.
For the past three seasons, Only Murders in the Building has premiered a new season on Hulu in either August in or early September. The first season also had an August bow, while the second season had the earliest return with its premiere in June. But the comedy series will be making history for itself with season 6 as the series will likely have its latest premiere yet.
Hulu hasn't shared a release window for Only Murders in the Building season 6 as of August 2026, right around the time when fans would be expecting a new season to begin hitting our watch lists. However, we shouldn't keep our fingers crossed for Charles, Oliver, and Mabel to make their comeback before summer's end since the cast and crew are still hard at work filming.
Only Murders in the Building season 6 began filming on something of a delay. While the series would have started production would have typically started sometime in the early spring, as season 5 kicked off filming in March 2025 ahead of its June 2025 completion, cameras didn't start rolling on the sixth season until May 2026. That's a few months later than the average timeline.
The season 6 production delay was due to a number of reasons, including personal circumstances pertaining to Martin Short as well as the production moving from New York City to London, at least for part of the season. It's not confirmed when filming will come to an end, but series star and executive producer Selena Gomez recently shared snaps from set in August.
Gomez offered a few brief looks behind the scenes of season 6 with a selfie of herself with Short and a tease of one of Mabel's outfits from the new episodes. There's also a glimpse at a glamorous red gown, but since Gomez included photos from her personal life and work with her brand Rare Beauty, it's unclear if Mabel will be the one wearing the gown or it's for another Gomez project.
Only Murders in the Building season 6 might be one of the series' most highly anticipated seasons yet given its move across the pond and the mystery surrounding the murder of Tina Fey's podcaster character Cinda Canning. Along with the core three returning, Michael Cyril Creighton and Da'Vine Joy Randolph are also back among a large cast of new characters and other guest stars.
Currently, there's no reason to believe that Hulu will be pushing the release of Only Murders in the Building season 6 to 2027 even though production will likely continue through early fall. There's always a chance that the season could drop earlier than we're thinking, but still on a delay. However, for now, the best educated guess on when the new season will make its premiere is sometime in October or November 2026, which would still allow for the season to finish airing before the end of the year.
