Silo season 3 just came to an end on Apple TV on Thursday, Sept. 3. The season finale ends on a major cliffhanger that sets up the final season of the series. Thankfully, we already know when Silo season 4 will premiere.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Apple TV announced Silo season 4 will premiere in Summer 2027. The streaming network shared the announcement on social media.
Apple TV didn't confirm the exact release date, but we have a very good idea when to expect the Silo season 4 release date.
During the Silo panel at SDCC, creator Graham Yost revealed, "This time next year, season 4 will be on." That happened on July 25, so assuming Yost is correct, Silo season 4 will be released sometime around July and August 2027.
I have to imagine that Silo season 4 will premiere in July 2027. This summer season has been incredibly successful for Apple TV. Silo season 3 went toe-to-toe with House of the Dragon season 3. I would be surprised if Silo season 4 doesn't follow a similar release schedule.
Silo season 3 and season 4 were filmed back-to-back
While some fans might have caught the announcement around SDCC, most fans will probably be shocked to learn we only have about a year, or even less, to wait between seasons of the hit sci-fi series based on the Silo trilogy by Hugh Howey.
Many fans will also be asking about how this is possible. Silo fans are used to long waits between seasons. There was a year-and-a-half break between the first two seasons. Then, fans had to wait another year-and-a-half after season 2 ended until season 3 premiered. Now, that wait until Silo season 4 is going to be cut down to only a year. That should be music to fans' ears.
The cast and crew actually filmed Silo season 3 and season 4 consecutively to cut down the time between seasons. Had he cast and crew not been able to do that, we could have been looking at Silo season 4 arriving sometime in 2028 or even later, depending on production schedules.
I'm a big fan of filming both seasons back-to-back when shows can do it. I know there are a lot of examples where it doesn't always pay off. Sometimes, the creative teams need more time to craft the story, but I have high hopes that Silo is the team that can pull it off.
There's no doubt Silo is one of the best shows on TV right now. It's probably the best sci-fi show we've seen in quite some time. Sure, there are some flaws, but it's also one of the best Apple TV shows we've ever seen.
Ultimately, it's a great move for Apple TV and the Silo team to keep the momentum going as they head into the final season of the hit sci-fi series. We'll be sure to share more news about Silo season 4 moving forward. For now, expect to see Silo season 4 on Apple TV sometime in July or August next year.
