The White Lotus season 4 is not coming to HBO in 2026, but we won't be waiting much longer for the new season to premiere on HBO.
In an interview with Deadline, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, was asked when The White Lotus season 4 is expected to premiere, and he had the perfect answer.
"First half of ’27," Bloys said.
We love a short, sweet, and to-the-point release window answer, so props to Bloys for allowing this access and not dodging the release question like some of his industry counterparts might.
It's still quite a big release window. I would love to know if it's winter 2027, spring 2027, or summer 2027, or hey, the exact month we could expect The White Lotus season 4. This information will do for now!
This is obviously great news for fans of Mike White and The White Lotus. The third season came to an end on April 6, 2025, so it's already been about 18 months since the season ended. In that time, there was a short break, White played Survivor 50, and then he wrote the fourth season. Production on The White Lotus season 4 started in April 2026, and it's going to continue through, at least, October, but it's possible some of the cast has already wrapped by now.
The White Lotus season 4 is one of many HBO shows coming in early 2027
HBO's 2027 lineup is absolutely stacked right now! After ending 2026 and beginning 2027 with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, HBO has The Pitt season 3, The White Lotus season 4, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 on the books for the first half of the year. The Last of Us season 3 also looks like it could be coming in the spring of 2027, potentially.
Bloys also revealed we'll be seeing Rooster season 2 and I Love LA season 2 around that time, too. It's going to be really interesting to see how HBO plans to slot all these shows in.
With production on The White Lotus season 4 winding down soon, it's HBO's schedule that will determine when the show comes back. There's no doubt in my mind that it will be before May 31, 2027, to be eligible for the Primetime Emmys next year.
Looking at that group of shows, I would probably pencil The White Lotus season 4 in as a spring 2027 show. February 2027, which would be two years after season 3 premiered, might be too early with filming continuing into October. That only leaves four months to put the show together and promote it. I would think April seems like a much more realistic release month for season 4, but we'll have to wait and see.
The White Lotus season 4 is heading to France with a stacked cast
While the release window is new, we already know what to expect in the new season of White's series.
The White Lotus season 4 will be set on the French Riviera during the Cannes Film Festival. The series will focus on a select group of famous individuals and their support staff attending the festival. It's going to be bigger and bolder than any season of the series so far.
The cast is also much bigger than in previous seasons. The White Lotus season 4 cast includes Chris Messina, Laura Dern, Kumail Nanjiani, Chloe Bennet, Alexander Ludwig, Steve Coogan, Rosie Perez, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Frida Gustavsson, Ben Kingsley, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Vincent Cassel, Ari Graynor, Charlie Hall, Sandra Bernhard, and more.
So far, we don't know any returning cast members yet, but I think we'll see a few pop up in the series, especially given its proximity to the Sicilian setting of season 2 and some of the "famous" characters from other seasons.
We haven't seen a first look at season 4 yet, but that will definitely be happening soon!
