If only we could lock away our emotions as Justin did in episode 1. But we aren’t wizards, and we saw the damage that his lack of emotion caused around him. Although my emotional baggage is heavy, it is the best part of me. My emotions have been tested so far, as Billie and Justin’s emotions have gotten them into trouble. Despite the trouble caused by a lack of, or an excess of, emotion, they both thrive on emotion-based decisions.

While Justin was emotionless, the kids landed in a terrible situation. Thanks to a miracle and a floggie, Billie proved she was Damien’s daughter. The leader of the wizard bikers gave her a teddy bear. But it’s up to her and her friends to find out the message her dad left her. While Justin is creating a locator machine, the kids seek out answers about Billie’s dad, hoping one of their plans will lead them to Alex.

Alex’s other life

Reuniting Harper and Alex has to be one of the best cameos ever for girlhood. It’s everything I ever hoped it’d be and more. Harper is still her quirky self as she locks Alex in their apartment bathroom and steals her wand. When Alex realizes her wand is gone, her tone of disappointment took me right back to the good old days. Despite the years, she’s still Alex, but even she can be fooled by Harper’s tricks.

As Harper calls Justin for help, Alex threatens to empty all of Harper’s expensive lotion. With the bathroom door tied closed (with a towel), Justin arrives to help Harper. He was late because he was on a date with his girlfriend, Gia, and Harper gets to make the redhead joke after all these years. We find out that they are trying to keep her from finding out her boyfriend is coming over to propose. Justin ignores Alex’s call and puts a spell on Harper to hide the truth, all while Alex escapes the bathroom through the window.

Alex slips back into the apartment as Justin leaves and tricks Harper into getting her wand back. She tries to guilt her into telling her the truth. Instead of telling her, the spell replaces her words with something odd. In a frustrated huff, she stomps to the door and opens it to find Mason about to knock. Without missing a beat, Harper makes Mason and Alex laugh when she tells her he’s here to fix her “dishwasher and to act surprised.”

Without the help of words, Harper sets the mood as Mason tries to be serious. When Alex figures it out and blurts it out, he tells her the truth. Both Harper and Alex are confused as Mason gently tells Alex she knows why he can’t propose to her. After years of wondering what happened to our OG Wizard characters, we learn that Mason is dead. So wait, why is he here?

He’s her all-knowing guide between what is real and what’s not. After all these years, he still loves her and protects her. Now, she needs to get back to her real life where her daughter needs her. If we thought Alex’s reunion with Mason was heartbreaking, seeing Alex tell Harper about Billie having her own Harper broke me. In their final moments, Harper reveals that Alex should give her a call when she gets home so they can hang out. This reveals that her life with Mason and Harper was always her safety net, but life had other plans. When Mason snaps his fingers, Alex finally wakes up in the space the rift took her to.

Teddy’s secret language

Winter realizes that she never gave her mom her note about sleeping over and rushes home. In the meantime, Billie and Roman try to figure out why Damien left Billie the teddy bear. Roman finds out that it is a bladder bear that can only be unlocked with a magical key, which doesn’t bode well for them.

To make matters more complicated, Justin still doesn’t know that Billie gave up her powers. After he tells them he’s going to do some shopping to boost the connection to Alex, Billie realizes they need to find her dad so he can open the rift. If there is a wizard more powerful than her, it’s her dad.

Thankfully, Roman stops Billie from making him conjure a machete to open up the teddy bear. He places the teddy bear down and does an X-ray spell. Turns out, Alex’s locket matches the one inside the teddy bear. She secures it around the neck and brings the stuffie to life. Unfortunately, they don’t understand stuffie talk, but luckily Milo does. Milo turns himself into a dinosaur stuffie, and he gets into a heated discussion with the bear. Despite the arguing, Milo learns Billie’s dad locked himself in Wizcatraz to keep his dad from using him to open the rift.

The Silas Evilini Plan

They enlist their enemy’s help to get into Wizcatraz. Silas Evilini is known for breaking into and out of the wizard prison but is now locked in a prison amulet thanks to his last battle with the Russos. The kids agree to take Silas with them when he convinces them he can’t just explain Wizcatraz to them. As the boys leave to go get things from the liar, Winter comes in and reveals there’s more than one of her. Every time she sneezes, another Winter appears. Unfortunately, Winter ruins the plan to keep Billie’s secret from Silas, and the girls go after him. The Winters multiply and attack him.

While the boys are in the lair, they hide when their plans come in from the wizard world. Before Justin can start up the machine, the boys pop up and tell him to stop. They don’t want to be liquefied. Before Gia can get the truth, they run to find the Winters and Billie holding down Silas. Justin freezes Silas and then tells them to start talking. But it is hilarious when all five Winters start talking at once.

While Gia lets Winter’s mom know she can stay for dinner, the Winters are laughing at the kitchen table. Milo and Roman try to listen in on what’s happening in the living room between Justin and Billie. They come to the realization that Billie doesn’t have to open the rift ever again since they know where her dad is. Justin apologizes to Billie for not stopping to think about how scared she was during all of this. Just as the Winters are about to do a trust fall, Justin pulls Billie’s powers out of her and back into Billie. He reminds her to always ask for help. They risk it all by holding a ride in Silas’ prison amulet as he’s taken to Wizcatraz. As he’s taken away, the machine locates Alex’s location.
