Matthew McConaughey Speaks About True Detective’s Second Season
We’ll start with a friendly reminder: Matthew McConaughey will not be returning to True Detective for season two. None of the characters are. That doesn’t mean, however, that True Detective has not become a major point in his career. In the same interview with IGN in which he talked about Interstellar, McConaughey also had a few things to say about the show’s second season:

"“I’ve very confident they’re going to have great words to say… In Nic Pizzolatto, the creator and writer, you have a great resource to go and just understand what the hell you are saying. And that did a lot for me to give me the identity of Rust Cohle. And Nick writes with such clarity and identity that there’s no room for attitude. He writes real men that own what they’re saying. No one apologises. Be different, not sorry!”"
That sounds like pretty classic McConaughey. In a different recent interview, McConaughey also said that he understood everything that this character Rust was saying. Turns out that it may not be that simple after all. His comment about “real men” might also still apply, but we also have two leading female roles to consider as well.
It’s obvious that McConaughey got a lot out of his time on True Detective besides an Emmy nomination. It’s unknown at this point if he’s actually in the loop when it comes to season two, but his words ring true regardless of what he may or may not know. Now, when does season two start filming again?
