True Detective Loses Art Director’s Guild Award
True Detective season two was nominated for, and lost, an award from the Art Director’s Guild.
It would appear that there are some out there that are able to — or just plain willing — to look past True Detective’s faults to see some of the worthwhile work that went into it. To that end, True Detective season two was nominated for a Producer’s Guild Award but lost.
Losing is not the point; we expect True Detective season two to lose all awards it is nominated for. That is the nature of the beast, and so far we’ve been correct.

Season two of True Detective was nominated by the Art Director’s Guild for three episodes: “The Western Book of the Dead,” Night Finds You,” and “Omega Station.” That’s an impressive spread and covers almost half of the season. Regardless, True Detective ultimately lost to House of Cards, which was nominated for two episodes.
The Art Director’s Guild is a smaller organization, and in fact is one of several smaller guilds that handed out awards to True Detective’s first season. The first time around True Detective was able to pull in many nominations and awards from the smaller guilds when the major outlets were snubbing it left and right.

That isn’t looking to be the case this time around, though it’s nice that they nominated it in the first place. The idea of True Detective season two winning any awards at this point is almost laughable, but anything could happen. We suppose.
