Michelle Monaghan Interviewed in Vogue for The Path
Michelle Monaghan is on the promotional path for new Hulu series, The Path
It’s actually been a while since the first season of True Detective. Its actors are off to new and exciting things. That includes Michelle Monaghan, who stars in Hulu’s new series about a dangerous cult, The Path. Monaghan has been off promoting The Path recently, which, by the way, has been doing pretty well.
Michelle Monaghan did an interview for Vogue to talk about The Path and her life in general. It’s an in-depth piece that covers her upbringing and career, though of course it focuses on The Path. It turns out that Monaghan had a bit of a religious upbringing, and that’s part of the reason that she was attracted to the project in the first place:
"“I remember listening to the readings and thinking, Why do I need a priest to absolve my sins when I have a direct line to God myself…And I always took issue with why women couldn’t be priests. I thought we weren’t practicing what we’re preaching about inclusivity.”"

The Path has a lot to play with when it comes to having a crisis of faith. Monaghan plays Sarah, who is married to Aaron Paul’s character, and Monaghan describes her as the one with serious convictions. Outside of The Leftovers, there aren’t very many shows on television that explore the relationships that people have to cults.

If The Path ends up being successful there could soon be a number of cult-based shows — because that’s how TV works. Unfortunately the short piece only mentions True Detective in passing, though at this point it would be fair to say that the first season actors, Michelle Monaghan included, have said all they probably have to say about it.

Unlike Netflix’s binge strategy, Hulu will be releasing The Path one episode per week, old school style. The first two episodes went up yesterday and the remaining eight will follow. Hulu will likely wait until this season is over before it decides on a second season.
