23. A closed circle?

Many things come in threes. A trilogy is one of the most popular ways to tell a story, and that holds true across the book and movie world. We have no idea how season 3 is going to end, or even what a potential season 4 has in store, but it wouldn’t hurt to be prepared for the end.

Noah Hawley, an author in his own right, might see a virtue in wrapping us this saga of Fargo in three seasons. That could either mean ending it altogether, or starting fresh with new stories and characters that would be even further removed from the events of the previous two seasons. We don’t think that Fargo is going to be going away, but it would make certain kind of sense for the third season to bring an end to things – one way or another.

24. More self-contained

Since we already believe that season 3 is going to reference the past seasons less, it makes sense that it would be more self-contained. Technically each season tells a distinct story, but that doesn’t matter all that much when it takes place in the same universe.

The end of season 2 did a lot of work (some would say unnecessarily) to branch out to season 1, but we’re not expecting season 3 to do the same in either direction. This ties into the possibility of the Fargo saga, or at least this part of it, closing after three seasons.

We’re predicting that season 3, perhaps more than the previous two seasons, will stand on its own. There will be callbacks, but no hint at the future and no major explanations of the past.

25. The highest body count yet

Each season of Fargo has its fair share of violence, with season 2 containing the legendary Sioux Falls Massacre. In that way, season 2 topped season 1.

Therefore, it is only right to expect season 3 to top them both. This is, after all, Fargo’s third season – we’re expecting some major shakeups. Perhaps the violence will be more evenly spread out, but it will be there. You can practically smell the blood on someone like Vargas, and both of the Stussy brothers look like they’ll be seeing (and causing) a large amount of pain.

None of the eventual bloodshed is shown in the trailers – that’s not how Fargo does things – but it’s there, under the surface. It’s going to be a wild ride, of that we are sure of.
