Huge Walking Dead news concerning the future of Maggie on the show
By Shawn Lealos
The Walking Dead news broke two weeks ago that the contract for Lauren Cohan (Maggie) was expiring and she might consider leaving the series.
This brought about a lot of panic among fans, as Maggie is an important part of The Walking Dead, both the TV series and the comic books. She is the second most important leader in both worlds, a leader of The Hilltop on TV and a very integral role in the comics as the second-longest living female character in Robert Kirkman’s series.
With that said, the previous Walking Dead news reported that actress Lauren Cohan has no contract yet to return for the ninth season of The Walking Dead and her name has come up in rumors concerning pilots that will shoot for the 2018 fall television season.

If she leaves, that will leave a hole on the TV series that is even bigger than the one Carl will leave behind.
However, there is breaking news that makes it sound like Walking Dead fans should not count out the future of Maggie yet. TV Line interviewed executive producer Scott Gimple and they asked about the Lauren Cohan contract situation. According to Gimple, things are still up in the air, but they are not as bleak as some might believe.
According to Gimple, he is optimistic that Cohan will reach a new deal to return as Maggie on The Walking Dead. He said that “things do happen in TV” but he emphasized that the two sides are talking about a new contract. Gimple said that Cohan has a lot of power but “hopefully” everything works out and Maggie will be back for season 9.
