Walking Dead actor throws in his support for Lauren Cohan

The Walking Dead comic books have positioned Maggie as the second-most important character after only Rick Grimes.

However, actress Lauren Cohan is not under contract to return to The Walking Dead TV show after season 8 comes to an end.

As we previously reported, executive producer Scott Gimple said that there were negotiations underway, although nothing had been agreed to yet.

However, Walking Dead co-star Khary Payton (King Ezekiel) took to his Instagram account and told the show to “pay the woman.” Cohan made it clear that she wanted a raise more in line with what some of her male co-stars on the series makes.

However, there is a problem as well. Undead Walking reports that Cohan has taken on a new pilot episode role for the ABC series Whiskey Cavalier opposite actor Scott Foley. Here is the synopsis of that pilot.

"Foley plays an F.B.I. agent who is partnered with Cohan’s character and the two will go on adventures, save the world, fight spies, and navigate interoffice politics and relationships."

With that said, The Hollywood Reporter indicates that there are still contract negotiations going on between Cohan and The Walking Dead for her return. There is the chance that Cohan could pull off both roles, although being one of the main stars in a network show will make it tough.

Of course, with the way The Walking Dead bounces around between storylines — often ignoring characters for weeks on end — it could happen. the question is, will it?

Maggie is easily one of the most important characters on the show. While everyone is wondering how Rick Grimes will deal with the loss of his only son in season 8, Maggie watched her father get his head cut off, her sister carried out in the arms of Daryl and her husband get his head bashed in with a barbed wire baseball bat.

Maggie deserves a chance to continue to shine. But, as Khary Payton said, Lauren Cohan also deserves to get paid.
