Kit Harrington won’t appear in any ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off

It looks like any Game of Thrones spin-off series occurs after Season 8 ends, it won’t include Jon Snow.

During a recent interview Kit Harrington conducted with GQ Italia, he confirmed that he would not be returning to the small screen for any Game of Thrones spinoffs that may happen in the future. Talk about taking the wind out of the Iron Fleet’s sails.

And since I’m guessing you may not understand Italian, ScreenRant was kind enough to translate what he said for us, “I think there’s going to be spinoffs, but I’m not going to be involved in any of it.”

More from Game of Thrones

Jon Snow has gone from a bastard to Night’s Watch, to dead, to alive again, to the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. He has become one of the most centric storylines of the entire series, so to hear he won’t be reprising his role in spinoffs is sure to disappoint the show’s legions of fans.

Maybe some of our other beloved characters could make an appearance. Or better yet, maybe some dearly departed cast members, like Sean Bean as Ned Stark or Diana Rigg as Olenna Tyrell?

This is unless they decide to set the Game of Thrones spinoff(s) way in the past or way in the future as Harrington brings up further along in his interview.

“The great thing about ‘Thrones’ for HBO is that you can sell it in a totally different way. You could set it 300 years earlier and save a load of money because we [the cast] are very expensive now.”

So, what he’s saying is that HBO can essentially discover a slew of new people and catapult them to fame as they did nine years ago with Game of Thrones OG? Let’s be honest; most fans would probably watch 60 minutes of Hodor saying “Hodar” in various rooms of Winterfell if HBO aired it.
