Bruce Campbell backtracks on Evil Dead movie idea
By Shawn Lealos
It was just last month that Bruce Campbell said in an interview that they would consider a fourth Evil Dead movie if Starz canceled Ash vs. Evil Dead.
That was from an interview with Entertainment Weekly where Campbell said this:
"“We’re in the horrible television limbo right now. We’re going to see what the TV gods have in store for us. We’re ready either way. If they take us off the air, we can think about another movie. And if they don’t, we can just keep plugging away.”"
That was exciting and proved that even if Starz gives up on the very funny horror-comedy TV show there is hope for more adventures of Ash Williams. It also gave fans a sense of relief since the ratings are very low because Campbell said it is the most pirated TV show airing today.
However, something changed. If Starz cancels the show because fans love it enough to pirate it but don’t love it enough to actually support it, it now sounds like it will mark the end of the series.
A video surfaced on Twitter of Bruce Campbell at the Irish Film Festival. The event was called “An Evening with Bruce Campbell” and a fan asked about a new movie if Ash vs. Evil Dead ends up canceled. Campbell was less than optimistic.
So, what did Bruce Campbell say about a fourth Evil Dead movie?
"“Another movie? No, no, no. Because if they cancel it I think Ash is done.”"
When the fans in attendance were audibly disappointed with the answer, Campbell tried to win them back over with his humor. He told them there is “lavender” on the property he owns and he will just smoke weed and hang out if there is no fourth season of Ash vs. Evil Dead.

Bruce Campbell said that a decision would come in the middle of March and the crew will know then if Starz will bring them back for a fourth season. For now, the crew of Ash vs. Evil Dead can just celebrate two Saturn Award nominations — including one for Campbell, who won last year for Best Actor.
