Worlds collide when Game of Thrones creators do audio commentary on Rick and Morty Blu-ray

Game of Thrones and Rick and Morty fans get a special treat in the Rick and Morty Season 3 Blue-ray commentary.

Would you take Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss for cartoon fans? How about Peter Dinklage?

Well, it turns out, they’re pretty big Rick and Morty fans. So much so, they provided audio commentary for the Adult Swim cartoon’s Season 3 Blue-ray.

More from Game of Thrones

According to CinemaBlend, Benioff, Weiss, and Dinklage added their commentary to the episode titled “Pickle Rick.” They refer to the episode as brilliant and that Rick’s monologue at the end is “the best writing in 2017.”

That’s saying a lot coming from an Emmy-winning television writer.

One other hilarious bit of commentary was when Weiss suggested that the final episode of Game of Thrones should just be a live-action version of the fight scene in “Pickle Rick.”

I really hope he’s kidding.

If you’re wondering how this little match-up came to be, no one knows for sure. Justin Roiland, the creator of Rick and Morty, is known for inviting certain “famous” fans on the show as guests in the past. So, it’s possible he was hoping for some Season 8 screen time. The trio recorded the commentary about a year ago.

Admittedly, I’ve never watched (nor even heard of) Rick and Morty. I’m more of a Family Guy and Simpsons kind of gal.

But if the creators and brilliant minds behind Game of Thrones are into this show so much, I may need to take a look sometime.

Game of Thrones returns about a year from now. And as of today, negotiations for Rick and Morty’s fourth season is still ongoing, according to Den of Geek. But since I have an entire year of waiting for Game of Thrones to come back, I think I have some time to fit in a new show to watch.
