DC Comics fans have anxiously been waiting for the HBO adaptation of the popular graphic novel, Watchmen.

While the premium channel has remained relatively quiet about Damon Lindelof’s latest project, new casting breakdowns reveal possible spoilers. While the characters are specifically meant for the pilot, they could end up becoming some of the main heroes.

That Hashtag Show leaked eight different breakdowns for the upcoming series. Although many of the descriptions are short and vague, fans will definitely analyze them in hopes of discovering the true characters.

More from HBO

"Angela Abraham: African-American female cop. Independent and intelligent, she’s also a realist. She’s married to Cal, with whom she has a daughter and is fiercely protective of them both.Cal Abraham: African-American male who is the stay-at-home husband of Angela. While he seems at home as the king of his castle and being a loving husband and father, it’s clear his past has a different story to tell.Looking Glass: A good looking cop, the native Oklahoman isn’t simple as his rural accent makes him appear to be. A top interrogator and behavioral scientist, he may also be a bit of a sociopath.Panda: An ethnic desk cop, he’s cynical and tough and puts his job first. Not a friend to many, he uses comedy to keep people at bay.Red Scare: Mafioso, tracksuit wearing cop. His Russian accent lends to his abrasiveness.Pirate Jenny: An androgynous and lustful bisexual cop, Jenny is an anarchist at heart.Jane Crawford: The wife of the police chief, Judd, Jane is a veterinarian who’s sharper than her guarded persona lets on.Old Man: A former cop who is still an imposing figure despite his age."

However, Watchmen isn’t the type of show that will be easy for viewers to predict. The creative team behind the adaptation has confirmed the series will be much different than Zack Snyder’s movie. In fact, they will probably diverge from comic book canon, which is bound to upset quite a few fans.

It isn’t a major surprise to learn that Watchmen will be a new rendition of the story knowing that Lindelof is in charge. The acclaimed creator is well-known for his supernatural drama, Lost, and the critically underrated HBO show, The Leftovers.

The Watchmen pilot is being directed by The Leftovers’ Nicole Cassell, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see more people from that show board this new series. Regina King and Kevin Carroll could easily become a married couple again to be the Abrahams. In fact, the entire cast of The Leftovers was so good it would be shocking if Lindelof didn’t consider them for roles.

Watchmen is a limited series comic book by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons set in an alternate universe. It follows two different groups of superheroes with the younger generation investigating a personal death from the team. A lot of the themes are relevant today about power and how people will begin to abuse it. The story takes place in a world where superheroes might not be the role models people are typically used to.

With casting still underway, it’s unlikely HBO will debut the series until 2019. Fans will undoubtedly hear more once production starts, or during different fan conventions. The premium network is looking for their next big hit with Game of Thrones ending and this adaptation might be it.
