Killing Eve rightfully dominates the TCA nominations
Killing Eve raked in the nominations this morning from the TCA’s.
BBC America has found its new critical darling to replace Orphan Black with edgy thriller Killing Eve. The freshman series led the TCA nominations with a total of five to their name. It shouldn’t come as surprise for anyone who watched the break-out series after the stellar first season.
Both Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh were recognized for Individual Achievement in a Drama for their impressive work as the two leads. In years’ past, shows tend to promote one actress more than the other to try and secure the win. However, BBC America was smart to push both since they were equally amazing in Killing Eve.

Unsurprisingly, it was also nominated for Outstanding New Program this year. From the get-go, Killing Eve earned the title but it’s nice to see it get recognized. It will have some stiff competition facing off against Netflix’s GLOW and HBO’s Barry, however, it’s probably just an honor to be nominated.
Shockingly, the series also earned a nomination for Outstanding Achievement in a Drama as well. For a show only in its first season, Killing Eve is certainly turning heads. It’s competing with many critical darlings in the category. In fact, almost every show nominated there could easily win this year without much complaint. The Americans, The Crown, and The Handmaid’s Tale will probably be the favorites though.
The TCA’s kept the nominations coming, also recognizing Killing Eve for Program of the Year. No one could argue the series doesn’t deserve it considering season one was nearly perfect. With an outstanding cast and writing team, BBC America had to know they had a hit on their hands. The series broke ratings records this year and was renewed before the premiere aired.
