Amazon has now released a new trailer for their highly anticipated Jack Ryan TV series.

The Jack Ryan trailer is being released ahead of Amazon’s Comic-Con panel set to take place on Friday, July 20th.

The premise for Jack Ryan has our title character stumbling upon some suspicious bank transactions in his work as a CIA analyst.  This has him pulled from his desk job and out into the field to work with the CIA to stop a dangerous terrorist before it’s too late.

Evidently, Amazon has liked what they’ve seen so far because it has already been renewed for a second season.

Jack Ryan has previously been adapted for the screen multiple times but with mixed results.

The Hunt for Red October with Alec Baldwin was released in 1990 to critical and financial success.

Alec Baldwin would end up being replaced in future movies starting with Harrison Ford.  Nevertheless, Patriot Games in 1992 and Clear and Present Danger in 1994 both became successful films in their own right.  It’s also worth noting that John Krazinski’s portrayal of Jack Ryan is said to be greatly inspired by Ford’s interpretation.

Later films on the other hand like 2002’s Sum of All Fears with Ben Affleck and 2014’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit with Chris Pine both came and went without much notice and became quickly forgotten.
