The new genre series, Tales From The Loop, will be based on sci-fi art from Simon Stålenhag.

Amazon Studios continues to add to its repertoire of must-see series with Tales From The Loop.

The reasonably new studio ordered eight episodes, which will be an hour-long series based on Simon Stålenhag’s sci-fi art. Considered a genre series, Nathaniel Halpern will take on writing duties, while Mark Romanek will direct.

I’m admittedly not familiar with Stålenhag’s work. But the Co-Head of Television at Amazon Studios, Albert Cheng, said:

"“Simon Stålenhag’s paintings are renowned for their vision of a not-too-distant, futuristic landscape. We are looking forward to bringing that to life and sharing it with our Prime Video audience.”"

The concept for Tales From The Loop sounds interesting.

The show will follow the town and the people who live above “The Loop.” According to Deadline, “The Loop” is “a machine built to unlock and explore the mysteries of the universe – making things possible that were previously relegated only to science fiction.”

It sounds like this series could be a mix of fantasy, mystery, and drama. It quite possibly could be Amazon’s answer to Netflix’s Stranger Things. My guess if you like that hit series, you will probably like this one, too.

Tales From The Loop is the 20th series Amazon Studios is bringing to their streaming service. They are making considerable strides in beefing up their content as of late.

The studio purchased the rights to Lord of the Rings for $250 million last November. The move makes sense since, by the time the series airs, we will all be living in a post-Game of Thrones world. Fans of the fantasy drama will be itching for a replacement.

While Lord of the Rings could cost $1 billion to make, fans of the J. R. R. Tolkien universe are loyal and will watch no matter what.
