Marvel’s Runaways is poised to bring in some familiar faces for season two.

At the TCA’s, Runaways executive producers stopped by to offer some updates about the sophomore season of the Marvel series. Fans have been waiting with bated breath to hear if the show will crossover with Freeform’s Cloak & Dagger. While Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz didn’t reveal if the teenagers would cross paths, they did confirm some comic book favorites will be joining the series.

Viewers will remember the group of kids finished season one on the run. Schwartz confirmed the focus will be on the new situation the group find themselves in. Before, they all came from wealthy families in California, but now they’re about to get a rude awakening about the real world.

"Our focus shifts to these kids and trying to survive in the streets… there’s a greater sense of tension and momentum in keeping with where we are in this part of the story.”"

He also commented on the ongoing themes throughout the second season. The kids will be tasked with preventing their parents from possibly destroying the world. It’s a heavy burden to bear but they don’t have much of a choice.

"“In the real world, young people are dealing with adult themes. The world the adults are leaving young people, there’s a responsibility on young people to fix this world. It feels so broken in so many ways. That is also a theme for our characters and for the show.”"

However, comic book fans will mainly be happy to know about some appearances by various canonical elements. The biggest one is the change of location with the kids taking refuge at an underground hostel. Known as “The Hostel” in the comics, it was a location many fans hoped to see before season one ended. Luckily, the showrunners confirmed last year that the hideout would make an appearance.

Both showrunners also spoke about some new characters dropping by. While they wouldn’t give away any names, viewers who read the Runaways comics will be happy to know some familiar faces will join the cast.

"“There are some characters who appear in the book who are appearing in Season 2. They are really popular, exciting characters."

Of course, the one question everyone wants to be answered is who the mole is. Undoubtedly, the answer will come in this upcoming season but neither the cast or the showrunners were about to give away that spoiler.
