Star Trek fans are rejoicing all over the world right now because Sir Patrick Stewart will be reprising his role as the infamous Jean-Luc Picard for a new series on CBS All-Access. The project has been rumored for quite some time now since it was announced in June that the universe would be expanding with a new series.

Now the project is officially happening with Stewart in tow, who unveiled it with a surprise visit at the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention. The new series will not be a reboot of Star Trek: Next Generation but rather focus on the next chapter of Picard’s life, according to Deadline. Alex Kurtzman, co-creator/EP of Star Trek: Discovery will be at the head of the series, as he oversees development for all new Star Trek content for CBS TV Studios.
