Game of Thrones last season could be delayed
Game of Thrones is due to come back in early 2019, but it may take longer than we thought.
Just as HBO revealed footage, albeit brief, of the final season of Game of Thrones Sunday night, we’re learning that we may have to wait longer to see it.
Let the groans commence.
HBO released a video teasing its 2019 lineup, and as a surprise to fans, it included glimpses of Game of Thrones. Some scenes were from last season but include a brand-new scene. Watch the trailer here. Can you spot it?

Game of Thrones was supposed to return after a year-plus hiatus in April 2019. But visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer says it probably won’t return until May of June 2019 at the earliest.
Are you kidding me? Haven’t we waited long enough?
I get that they want the last season to be perfect. I want the last season to be perfect, too.
But if Game of Thrones wants to be eligible for Emmy contention next year, it’s going to have to debut before the end of May. To qualify for the 2019 Emmy Awards, a show must air their series between June 1, 2018, and May 31, 2019.
Bauer said, “We’re going to be toiling away on Season 8 until May of 2019, so it’s eight or nine months away. But the prequel is starting to shoot in February, at least the pilot. So, we’ll still have quite a lot to do in Season 8 when they’re beginning.”
Bauer has won five Emmy’s for his work on Game of Thrones, so I guess he knows what he’s talking about. If it’s going to take longer for perfection, then so be it.
I just hope it comes back sooner than later.
