Warner Bros. confirms a deal with Netflix to stream the DC Universe show, Titans, for international audiences.
Titans fans, it is time to finally rejoice. According to a new report by Deadline, Warner Bros. has finalized a deal with Netflix to stream the live-action series for international audiences outside the US and China. Titans is the first live-action original show to premiere on DC Universe, the recently-launched streaming platform from Warner Bros. Up till now, international fans have been wondering how to access the show, so this will come as welcome news to most.
Rumors were rife a few months ago about Netflix possibly streaming Titans, and this is the best route that Warner Bros. could have taken as Netflix remains one of the most popular, and easily accessible, streaming platforms for many global audiences.
Titans will be the first live-action rendition of the fan-favorite DC superhero team. Originally created in the 1980s by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, the show will be a modern rendition with an aged-up team. The cast includes Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, a.k.a Robin, Anna Diop as Koriand’r (Starfire), Teagan Croft as Rachel (Raven), and Ryan Potter as Gar (Beast Boy) forming the titular team.
DC has upped the ante with the publicity for the show, dropping the first official poster just last week, along with a clip of the main cast in action.
With the show premiering on October 12, there have been equal amounts of anticipation and trepidation regarding the show’s tone and content with many considering the R-Rated language and violence to be inconsistent with the source material. But, fans are still putting faith in producers Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and especially Greg Berlanti – who successfully launched the Arrowverse – to create a series that pays adequate homage to the original comic books and makes for great television.
Titans is the first original show on the DC Universe roster. From 2019, Doom Patrol, Stargirl, Swamp Thing and possibly Batgirl will also be landing on the streaming platform.
