The holidays are coming early for Timeless fans!

NBC has officially set a premiere date for the two-hour season finale/movie wrap-up for the beloved time-traveling show. Deadline reports Timeless will be back just in time for the winter holidays, airing on December 20.

Warning: Season 2 spoilers below

Timeless has been a bit of an anomaly as the little primetime show that could. It was canceled after its first season but renewed a few days later due to a passionate fan campaign. The series faced an uphill battle again in its second season with an unfavorable timeslot on Sunday nights at 10 PM.

While the network waited a while to give reveal the fate of the series, that didn’t stop fans from actively campaigning to keep the show alive. Unfortunately, NBC decided to cancel the series again in June despite the outcry. It didn’t take long for the network to at least give the show an opportunity to wrap up the massive cliffhanger the second season ended on. In July, Timeless officially was given the green light to begin working on a two-hour television movie.

There haven’t been many details about what the finale will be about and which time periods the main gang will be traveling to. However, photos from the cast’s social media did confirm everyone’s favorite time travelers will be back. The season 2 cliffhanger did leave the fate of Rufus up in the air, and it seems inevitable that saving him will be a main priority.

Next. Timeless deserves to be renewed for another season and here’s why. dark

Could Timeless return after the movie wrap-up? Fans certainly seem to think so. The fandom, affectionately nicknamed Clockblockers, hasn’t given up hope the series could be revived elsewhere. While it seems unlikely NBC saves the show yet again if the movie does pull in high ratings, there’s a possibility other outlets could be interested.
