Watchmen HBO series continues to add stars to sprawling cast
By Shawn Lealos
The Watchmen HBO series is coming up quick and they have just added two more names to the already impressive cast.
The new Watchmen cast members are James Wolk and Jean Smart.
Fans know James Wolk from the brand-new fairy tale fantasy series Tell Me a Story. He is starring as one of the leads Jordan in that CBS All Access series, a man who loses the love of his life to a robbery by the thieves in the pig masks in the premiere episode. He also has a recurring role on Goliath on Amazon.
While the casting of most characters has remained secretive, Deadline reports that Wolk will play a junior senator from Oklahoma.

Jean Smart is even bigger news and she will play a regular character on the comic book adapted series.
Smart is an Emmy-winning actress, picking up two wins for her role on Frasier and another for Samantha Who? She also earned nominations for her roles on Fargo, Harry’s Law, 24, and The District.
Smart also co-stars in the second season of the Noah Hawley FX comic book adaptation Legion.
Deadline reports that Smart will play an FBI Agent who is investigating a murder in the first season of Watchmen on HBO.
Smart and Wolk join a cast that is already very impressive.
Regina King (Boyz in the Hood), Jeremy Irons (Justice League), Don Johnson (Miami Vice), Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Thou?), and Louis Gossett Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman) lead the way.
The Watchmen HBO series will take a different slant on the world that Alan Moore created in his seminal comic book series. Instead of adapting the story, which was already done in a Zack Snyder movie, this series will take place in the world of the Watchmen.
The comparisons for the new Watchmen TV series is Fargo. Damon Lindelof is producing the series and it will air sometime in 2019.
