Netflix breaks down popularity of shows and movies by binges, re-watches, and Instagram engagment
Netflix, the popular streaming service that refuses to release traditional ratings’ data on its myriad of original shows and movies, has provided information on viewing engagement in a very Netflix-y way.
The streamer has released a top ten list of its most binged original show and named its three most re-watched original movies.
The teen romance On My Block was named the most-binged show. Meanwhile, another teen romance, The Kissing Booth, was the most re-watched movie.
The other most re-watched movies were To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and Roxanne Roxanne.

Both of these films also have a teen focus. To All the Boys… is another teen romance. Roxanne Roxanne tells the true story of teen rapper Roxanne Shanté and stars Mahershala Ali and Nia Long.
In addition to On My Block, the list of most binged shows featured other teen-skewing series, including the critically reviled Insatiable and the second season of 13 Reasons Why.
It also featured the Golden Globe-nominated The Bodyguard, critically acclaimed Orange is the New Black, and the buzzy The Haunting of Hill House. Three non-fiction shows also made the list, Making a Murderer: Part 2, Last Chance U: Indy, and Fastest Car.
Netflix also shared the ten stars who got the biggest bump in followers to their Instagram profiles after appearing in a Netflix property.
Queer Eye‘s Fab Five were at the top of the list.
Many of the other stars were featured in the service’s teen-oriented series and films. This isn’t surprising given Instagram’s younger user base. The exception was Australian comic Hannah Gadsby, whose stand-up special Nanette was released to rapturous reviews.
To compile the information, Netflix measured 2018 global viewing between January 1 and November 28. The list of most binged shows, in particular, speaks to the varied content available on Netflix.
The streaming platform strives to fill every viewing niche that exists, and the breadth of binged shows demonstrates its success in that endeavor.
