The Walking Dead has finally brought the Whisperers to the hit AMC series and a new photo just hit of their scary leader Alpha.

For Walking Dead fans who don’t read the comics, the Whisperers are survivors of the zombie apocalypse who have a very unique way of staying alive.

Instead of hiding out and killing the Walkers, they live among the Walkers. They kill them, skin them and then wear their skin over their own so that they can move undetected through them.

It is similar to when Rick and company would smear themselves with Walker blood and guts — but way more disgusting.

Yeah, that is really freaky.

It is also Samantha Morton, believe it or not. It is a big change from her role on Harlots and an even bigger change from her Oscar-nominated turns in movies like In America and Sweet and Lowdown.

And if you think that is gross, watch this Walking Dead teaser trailer where she prepares and puts on her face.

So, who is Alpha?

She is a leader of the Whisperers and has done as much to keep her people alive as Rick Grimes did. However, she is also very barbaric and some of the things that she has allowed to happen turned even the stomach of Negan in the comics.

If The Walking Dead TV show follows the comic book storylines, she is also someone who will match names like Negan and the Governor when it comes to the show losing some beloved characters as Alpha has a lot of blood on her hands.

Having Judith replace Carl in the TV show will bring a new dynamic to the story of how the Whisperers end up interacting with Alexandria and the Hilltop, so the second half of season nine will be interesting to watch unfold.

It will also be interesting to see how the first major female villain on The Walking Dead will be handled by the show’s first female showrunner.

The Walking Dead returns for the second half of season 9 on Feb. 10.
