Joe Hill has been in the news a bit recently, both for upcoming television adaptations — one of his comic book series Locke and Key and now for his novel adaptation of NOS4A2.

Yesterday, we reported that the upcoming Netflix adaptation of Locke and Key has cast the Locke kids, as that seminal comic book series is finally coming to life on the small screen.

Now, there is a great image that just hit from the upcoming AMC adaptation of NOS4A2.

Entertainment Weekly offered up the first-look images of Zachary Quinto, who plays the terrifying Charlie Manx — the villain from the Joe Hill horror novel.

If you couldn’t tell by the title, Charlie Manx is a monster — almost like a mixture between a vampire and a ghoul.

As a side note, the title is pronounced Nosferatu, which as all cinephiles know was the first real vampire movie — released in Germany two years before Dracula.

Also, as many fans know, Joe Hill is the son of Stephen King, so it will be interesting to see how this movie measures up with King’s vampire movie Salem’s Lot.

Of course, Charlie Manx is no simple vampire.

Manx is a convicted child abductor who takes the kids for a ride in his 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith (with a license plate that reads NOS4A2) to a place called Christmasland. He then feeds on the lifeforce of the children — which keeps him alive.

NOS4A2 follows Victoria McQueen (Vic), who encountered Charlie as a child and sets out to save her son when the monster comes for him.

Zachary Quinto (Heroes) stars as Charlie Manx while Ashleigh Cummings stars as Vic. The AMC series seems to be changing things up somewhat as Vic is described as a girl about to enter her senior year of high school who Charlie realizes might cause him trouble.
