This is Us casting news: Beth gets some flashbacks

Beth is getting the flashback treatment on upcoming episodes of This is Us, so fans will finally get to see a glimpse of her past.

It seems as though This is Us is expanding its flashbacks beyond the original five Pearsons.

The hit NBC show just cast Rachel Naomi Hilson (Rise) and Akira Akbar (Captain Marvel) to recur as various versions of Beth Pearson, Randall’s wife.

Susan Kelechi Watson brilliantly plays “current” Beth and Hilson will play teenage Beth, while Akbar will play younger Beth. Both actresses will make their This is Us debut on the February 19th episode “Little Island Girl.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to get some back story on Beth finally. We got a small taste when Beth’s cousin, Zoe, showed up at the end of the last season. And with Toby getting the flashback treatment earlier this season, it’s only fair we get to see Beth’s, too.

NBC also announced that everyone’s favorite television mom, Phylicia Rashad (Clair Huxtable on The Cosby Show, hello?!) would play Beth’s mom, while her father will be played by Carl Lumbly (Supergirl). Goran Visnjic (ER) will also appear as Vincent, Beth’s former teacher.

In the upcoming episode, Beth comes to a realization after she travels home to care for her mother. So, I am assuming the flashbacks will have something to do with current Beth’s realization.
