Blessed be the fruit, The Handmaid’s Tale has a season 3 premiere date!
The Handmaid’s Tale finally has a premiere date for season 3 and fans couldn’t be more excited to dive back into the dreadful world of Gilead. After a season 2 cliffhanger, many are curious to see where the story will go from here. Will June be able to rescue Hannah? Or will her decision to stay back in Gilead backfire?
During the 2019 TCA panel, it was announced that season 3 will premiere on Wednesday, June 5th which is about two months later than when the series has aired in the past, per Deadline. The late premiere date will take The Handmaid’s Tale out of the running for the 2019 Emmys, but with Game of Thrones being a part of the race this year, it is probably a very wise decision.
According to the SVP of Originals, Craig Erwich, the delayed premiere date is also to ensure that the quality of the series remains at the level it always has. And for those who may be wondering how season 3 is shaping up to be so far, Erwich has some news for you. Having seen the first two episodes, he stated that they are “spectacular”.
The 13-episode third season will follow June and her mission to take Gilead and its oppressive regime down. According to Deadline, there will be reunions, war, and a lot more in the third season–perhaps, a June and Luke reunion? During this year’s Super Bowl commercials, Hulu dropped a cryptic season 3 trailer for The Handmaid’s Tale which is reminiscent of Ronald Reagan’s 1984 presidential campaign ad. Check out the trailer below!
You got chills too, didn’t you?
If we thought the first two seasons brought the gloom and doom, then season 3 is going to take it to the next frightening level. Don’t miss The Handmaid’s Tale on June 5th!
