Jack Ryan: Amazon officially renews series for season 3

Jack Ryan will get another adventure on Amazon!

Amazon took a big gamble on Jack Ryan last year and it seems like it paid off. Deadline reports the network has officially handed out a third season renewal to the John Krasinski led action series. Fans will be pleasantly surprised by the news considering the show hasn’t even been given a second season premiere date following its debut in August.

Nevertheless, Jack Ryan became a summer hit and earned an early season 2 renewal almost immediately. Unless there was a massive drop in viewership, it’s probably safe to assume it would’ve gotten another season either way. With season 3 now confirmed, it will probably make it easier for Amazon to start production sooner.

According to Deadline, the Head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, was confident about the decision to renew the series. Touting the strong performance from the first season and the creative direction for the follow-up, she “saw no reason not to do” more.

Unfortunately, details are scarce despite the exciting news. Amazon has remained tight-lipped regarding what the second season will look and will undoubtedly remain so about the third. What we do know is that John Krasinski will be reprising his role of the titular character. Abbie Cornish and Wendell Pierce will most likely be back as well as Dr. Cathy Mueller and James Greer. John Hoogenakker was also promoted from recurring to a series regular.

Season 2 has also added quite a few new faces to the mix for the latest Jack Ryan adventure. Noomi Rapace, Michael Kelly, Jovan Adepo, Jordi Molla, Cristina Umaña, and Francisco Denis are all tapped to play significant roles. Rapace will take on the role Harriet “Harry” Baumann, a German Intelligence agent but Molla and Denis are both playing significant leaders in South America hinting that the team will be headed to that continent this season.
