Stargirl: First look at new DC Universe hero’s supersuit

The super suit that will be worn by Courtney Whitmore when she becomes Stargirl was unveiled by DC Universe on the first day of WonderCon on Friday.

Stargirl won’t hit the streaming service DC Universe until early 2020, but that doesn’t mean plans for the series aren’t off to a flying start. So at the DC Universe WonderCon panel, the super suit that the title character will sport on the series was revealed.

Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore and her superheroic alter-ego Stargirl and Luke Wilson as Courtney’s stepfather and retired superhero, Pat Dugan. The series centers on high-school sophomore Whitmore as she inherits a cosmic device that transforms her into a superhero. Whitmore works with an unlikely team to take on villains of the past. In the process, she assembles the Justice Society of America, the first team of superheroes. The character was most recently seen on Legends of Tomorrow with Sarah Grey (The Order) taking on the role.

The series is based on the DC Comics character created by Geoff Johns. Johns created the character in 1999 in honor of his late sister, who passed away in a tragic accident. Now, he will serve as showrunner and executive producer for the series and will write the show’s premiere episode.

Like many a DC show, Greg Berlanti and his partner Sarah Schechter will executive produce, along with Melissa Carter.

Like many TV and movie superhero suits, this one is a slightly more modest version of the comic character’s version. However, it is skimpier than some of the other super suits female heroes are sporting today, such as the one donned by Captain Marvel in her recent movie.
