Killing Eve: Season 2 premiere ratings are absolutely killing it
Killing Eve ratings rise with the season 2 premiere.
The Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer led series continues to kill it as the season 2 debut ratings have been released. Killing Eve made history in its first season with unprecedented growth per episode in the ratings and the second season looks like it will be the same way.
About 1.2 million people were watching the premiere this season which was a 67% increase from the first season finale. The increase is impressive and definitely warranted considering how strong season 1 was for Killing Eve.
However, the series did have a couple of things working in its advantage. For starters, the season 2 premiere was simulcast on BBC America and AMC, which allowed more fans to tune in. Not every cable package comes with BBC America, so this makes the show more accessible. Also, Killing Eve has been sweeping the awards circuit like a well-oiled machine. Sandra Oh won a Golden Globe this past year, and the show recently snagged 15 BAFTA nominations.
Not to mention, Hulu and AMC Premium gave many viewers the chance to catch up on season 1 before last weekend’s premiere. The show is so easy to get hooked to, this streaming availability certainly helped get people watching. It’s also worth noting that Killing Eve is one of the few shows that managed to see an increase between its first season finale and second season debut. Most shows usually see a small decline as viewers grow disinterested.
The numbers for the spy thriller also helped out AMC’s other shows. A Discovery of Witches made its US television debut with 1.1 million viewers after previously only being available on AMC Premium or Shudder.
