Ozark cast talks about the Byrde family and what lies ahead in season 3

Ozark cast members reunite at the Contenders Emmys panel to talk all things season 2 and what lies ahead for the Byrde family.
Ozark made a mark for itself almost immediately when it first premiered back in 2017, and as fans patiently wait for the next season, the cast is getting together to give the fans something. At the Contenders Emmys panel earlier this week, cast members Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, and Julia Garner all came together to talk about their intriguing characters and the crazy plot that reeled fans in from the get-go.
In reference to his character, Marty Byrde, Bateman spoke about the progression of his character from the financial advisor we met in season 1 leading up to the drug lord he so quickly transitions into by season 2. He states that Marty was “trying to keep the wheels on the road kind of thing” in the first season” and in season 2, “I was meant to start wobbling a little bit.”
And wobble he did, Ozark fans. In fact, he did more so than we could have ever imagined and now season 3 is sure to be one hell of a ride. In fact, according to a Deadline report, Bateman states that Marty’s instability will worsen and manifest in different ways in the third season of Ozark.
Now, when we look at Laura Linney’s character, Wendy Byrde, she just has progressively grown into a complete badass. Who would have seen that coming back in season 1? The relationship and marriage between Marty and Wendy have been fairly tumultuous over the course of two seasons but it’s also something that has kept the family going, in its own weird way.
"For Wendy, they had a marriage that was solid and functioned well, but they didn’t really know each other. They are getting to know each other in ways that they never expected."
Bateman, Linney, and all of us agree when we say that Ruth, played by Garner, is most certainly the strongest character of the series. Over the last few years, Garner has become goals all around and her portrayal of Ruth on Ozark is just one example of that–we can’t get enough of her!
No premiere date has been announced as of yet for season 3, but rest assured, we’ll update you as news is released!
