Game of Thrones creators name character who changed the most throughout series

Game of Thrones is almost a third through its final season and the show’s creators offer their opinions on the characters and what they mean to them.

Who would you name as the Game of Thrones character who has changed the most from his or her first appearance?

Some may argue that Arya Stark has undergone the most change, having started as a feisty young girl, eager to become a knight. She becomes a more subdued, sneaky, and sharp assassin instead.

One could say that Jaime Lannister has changed the most. He started as the most hated person on the show, pushing an innocent child out of a window to keep his sexual relationship with his sister a secret. Having gone from knight to prisoner, to the loss of an appendage, we’ve seen him grow as a person, even likable and someone we can root for.

But showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss believe that they have the definitive answer to this question.

Sansa.

Benioff said,

"“She started out so naive and was forced to undergo the most brutal possible education into the world but emerged from it and became this powerful figure and kind of against all odds. I don’t think too many people watching the first season had any expectation that Sansa would become the woman that she became.”"

Benioff pointed out that Sansa’s growth can be attributed to the actress who plays her, Sophie Turner. They were impressed by her talent as a child actor, but it doesn’t always translate into adulthood. Turner, at 23 years old, she’s become a force.

I know, for one, I’m excited to see what she chooses to appear in next.

Weiss agreed with Benioff’s choice, but couldn’t help but mention Bran, who went from the daring “Little Lord” to paralyzed, and now the Three-Eyed Raven. Isaac Hempstead Wright plays Bran.
