The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance: Netflix releases an epic new trailer before debut

Netflix unveils a new trailer before The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance debuts this month.

The prequel series is expected to hit the streaming service at the end of August and the latest trailer gave fans an in-depth look at the world of Thra. Netflix has gone all out to continue Jim Henson’s vision with The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance based on the two and half minutes seen in the trailer. It’s visually stunning and looks like it may be another major hit for the streamer.

In association with Netflix, the Jim Henson Company helped bring the project to life. It’s a prequel to Jim Henson’s cult hit, The Dark Crystal, where it will properly explore Thra and what happened to it. While there was a fear heading into the project that the series would become too CGI heavy, director Louis Leterrier promised CGI would mainly be used to remove puppeteers from scenes and that most effects would be practical.

The story revolves around the heart of Thra, The Crystal of Truth, which falls prey to the villainous Skeksis and begins to infect the world. However, three brave Gelflings aren’t going to sit back and let their world perish. Thus a rebellion is formed as they fight to save their fellow Gelflings and Thra from perishing.

The all-star voice cast for the series is incredible. Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Donna Kimball all voice the main characters. However, recurring voices include: Helena Bonham Carter, Caitriona Balfe, Lena Heady, Alicia Vikander, Natalie Dormer, Mark Strong, Theo James, SImon Pegg, Awkwafina, Jason Isaacs, Benedict Wong, Mark Hamill, Keegan-Michael Key, Sigourney Weaver, and many more.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will hit Netflix on August 30.
