The Witcher showrunner and Executive Producer, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, has said:

"“Casting The Witcher has been one of the biggest projects of my career, and undoubtedly the most exciting.”"

Four episodes will be directed by Game of Thrones‘ Alik Sakharov, with the others being directed by either Alex Garcia Lopez or Charlotte Brändström. The cast also includes Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, Jodhi May, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Adam Levy, MyAnna Buring, Mimi Ndiweni, Therica Wilson-Read, and Millie Brady.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

The series prequel to Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal will also appear at San Diego’s Comic-Con on July 19, 2019. It will head to Hall H from 3:30 to 5:15 PM. Netflix has confirmed that Comic-Con attendees will get to see some first look footage at the highly anticipated prequel. Originally directed by Jim Henson & Frank Oz, the new series will be directed by Louis Leterrier, who co-produced it with Lisa Henson (daughter of Jim Henson).  The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will feature the voice talents of Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nathalie Emmanuel, Donna Kimball, Helena Bonham Carter, Theo James, Mark Hamill, Keegan-Michael Key, Simon Pegg, and Sigourney Weaver.

As Netflix explains:

"“The 10-episode fantasy adventure series is a prequel to the groundbreaking 1982 fan favorite The Dark Crystal, and takes place many years before the events of the film. The series will be shot in the U.K., and will star an ensemble of fantastical, state-of-the-art creatures created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop™ and Brian Froud, the original feature’s conceptual designer.”"

dark. Next. 13 Netflix Originals coming in June to start the summer off right

Between The Witcher and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance alone, Netflix will have its fair share of elves, witchers, gnomes, and other mythological creatures. Add to that the return of Matt Groening’s Disenchantment (Sept. 20th) and the eventual re-emergence of Castlevania!  If you’re a fan of fantastical adventures, you have a decent variety of options in the near future.
