Amazon Prime’s The Expanse releases season four trailer
Amazon Prime has released a new trailer for season four of The Expanse, the highly anticipated return of the canceled SyFy original series.
Amazon Prime has released a new trailer for it’s recently rescued sci-fi series The Expanse. The series originally aired on SyFy for its first three seasons before being canceled and picked up by Amazon for season four. Months ahead of the season premiere, Amazon announced that The Expanse had been renewed for an additional fifth season, a huge show of support for the series from its new home. Season four of The Expanse will premiere on Amazon Prime on December 13 with ten new episodes.
Season four will see the crew of the Rocinante set out on a U.N. mission to explore the newly accessible planets beyond the Ring Gate.
"“Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets, which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources, but also marked by the ruins of a long dead alien civilization.”"
Ilus offers new hope to people looking for a home, but there are dangers on the planet that new settlers don’t yet understand. Based on the events in the trailer, the ancient civilization seems to have left behind the technology that is accidentally activated and endangers the settlers.
Naren Shankar returns as showrunner with Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby writing. Returning cast includes Steven Strait, Cas Anvar, Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham, Frankie Adams, Shohreh Aghdashloo, David Strathairn, Thomas Jane, and Nadine Nicole, while Burn Gorman notably joins the cast as Adolphus Murtry.
I love Gorman from his days on Torchwood, so it’s super exciting to see him pop up on The Expanse. While his character from the original book has been described as ruthless and possibly psychopathic, Gorman teased to Gizmodo that his character is:
"“a guy who gets stuff done.” “He loses some of his people pretty early on and, like any good military man, he’s going to find out who’s responsible.”"
Season 4 will be available to stream on Amazon starting December 13.
