The President is Missing adds Michael Rooker!

The upcoming Showtime pilot is beginning to flesh out its cast. Deadline reports that Michael Rooker has joined The President is Missing in a major role. He joins the already cast David Oyelowo, Janet McTeer, Paul Adelstein, Gina Gallego, and Medina Senghore.

The President is Missing is an adaptation of the book by former President Bill Clinton and James Patterson. It revolves around Oyelowo’s character, James Martin, the Vice President who is forced to step up and take charge when President Jillian Stroud goes missing. According to the logline, Martin must decide between following his party or his conscience now that he’s in charge and facing a barrage of both personal and political attacks. He’ll also have plenty of political crises to deal with as well.

Michael Rooker will play the special agent in charge of Martin’s protection, Greg Parkes. Apparently, Parkes may not be able to handle the “impossible task” of protecting Martin despite being described as a “warrior”.

Rooker is well-known for his role as Yondhu in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. He also has a major role in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad as well as Fast & Furious 9 and can be seen in the upcoming Dark Tower television pilot. Rooker also recently appeared in True Detective on HBO.
